Same price but it's all animation and it's 45 minutes long. There's a huge variety of h scenes, the animation and visuals are amazing. Camera direction is good. It's not limited to one camera angle the whole time. The voice acting isn't repetitive. It's not looped. Obviously has more effort and work put into it and it's the same price as a 5 minute repetitive garbage like Liru wolf game.

No. They're average at best. The textures are weak, the model is relatively low poly and is rather inexpressive. The animation is kind of stiff but good enough I suppose.

I'd say it varies. Some angles are sweet, others are kind of shit. That said there's lots of variety with them so yeah I guess I agree.

It's shit. She does not shut up, and 90% of it is generic ochinchin-daisuki~~ hentai dialogue, and that's not even with her inner monologuing enabled, which is even worse. In fact I'd say the sound design in Sherry is pretty shitty overall, but I guess that depends on how annoying you find the sex sfx.
Anyway I'd say the voice lines are one of the strong points of Liru, since there's an actual difference in the personality between the two dialogue options. Every time I play through it I hear a line I didn't even know was in the game.

If you're running Windows 10, it's probably directx related. Apparently it was part of an anniversary update.
The fix is to use a specific d3d9.dll:

Rename to "d3d9.dll" and drop into the same folder as EXE. This fixed my AA2.

However this shouldn't affect unity games.
Secrossphere and HS should not be affected, whereas older Illusion games are affected.

The title does not do a good job of "showing off" seismic, as his previous titles were more complex in terms of scenes and even mechanics.
Having dialogue A or B play depending on some arbitrary mood option... that's kinda boring.
If you're a diehard liru fan, or just enjoy vanilla /h/ I imagine that it was still an interesting view. However given the doorway paizuri blue-balling, I get the feeling that seismic was not in a risk-taking or even passionate mood.
People praise the author as being a 3D animation savant, and that everything he touches becomes gold. I'm glad that they get that level of enjoyment out of it, good for them. Visual novels are considered interactive games and they're released on gaming platforms such as steam and playstation store. In the Mami title, you could only access certain scenes after having gone through he whole purification thing IIRC. My memory is hazy on this, and I don't have the game on hand, but was this not the case? In Mami 3 there was even a "behind the curtain" changing scene which was pretty cool.
In USA there were interactions in the main menu that would change depending on the character's mood, emotional state wasn't something Liru newly introduced. So perhaps the comparison to previous titles was more a measure of content than features? You're right there. However it should be expected that new works from an author possibly venture into new territories... right?
The older titles are all jerky, fluid sim is clearly visible, and resolution is lower. However, I feel that this is not just due to Liru being a cumulative display of prior work, but rather due to the affordability and upgrades of his tech. After all, this work at an earlier point in time was way more expensive.
So it's kinda strange that with the barrier to entry reduced that I feel that his most recent work is a bit of a snooze. It wasn't bad, absolutely not. It just felt like how @OZ hasn't done anything particularly new either.

Nope. They were 100% linear. In all of them the later scenes unlocked costumes (which in most of them were just varying states of undress) and the first mami game had a "special" costume that unlocked after playing through every scene. The rape scene in Mami 3 (which is the "behind the curtain" scene you mean, I think) wasn't special or secret or anything, it was just another scene.

Yeah, and it did. There's the voice control thing but there's also the concept that the game takes place over several days, something which no other Seismic game had done. More of a conceptual addition, yes, but an additional nonetheless.

Honestly I kind of feel like Liru isn't much better than the others in terms of actual animation quality during the sex scenes. There are the short bursts of nice animation here and there (during the bed scene specifically) but overall it's on the same level as Mami 1 still.

I agree that it's a bit boring. But then that's what Seismic's stuff has always been, plain vanilla. I hope he shakes it up a bit in his next work.

I've had similar things happen when registry "INSTALLDIR" for "AA2Play" and "AA2Edit" aren't set, though that looks like a corrupted file as a result of modding since you've managed to load into the dialogue. Perhaps clean install and apply mods one at a time?
I've never actually installed any illusion game, no idea why people suggest it. You can *always* extract out the directories and manually set the registry key. Way faster and means you can simply copy files when formatting/upgrading PC.

The registry keys for AA2 need to only include the install directory for both the Edit and Play parts.

Registry keys are kinda weird due to character escaping, what that means is that backslashes must be "escaped", or preceded by slashes, and when exporting those are also preceded so it looks pretty bad when backed up.
However this example uses:
C:\h\aa2\Edit\
and
C:\h\aa2\Play\

Example reg key:

Edit the entries to match your folders, making sure each group of backslashes is 4 lol. Don't forget keep the 4 on the end for good measure.

Anyway, the reason why is very simple, and is the same for both GGXrd and KoF XIV (despite how fugly the latter looks like): it's a huge pain in the ass and an incredible timesink to create and animate 2D sprites for HD, nevermind full HD or higher. That's why 2D sprites are now all but limited to very small screens/resolutions such as smartphones or handheld consoles.

Yes. They want their game to look and feel like an anime but they can't use 2D sprites because they can't afford to spend one year on a single character or more to make a HD/full HD game. They can't use standard textures because they look like shit at low resolutions especially on close ups, and consoles/arcades (and PCs without sufficient VRAM) wouldn't be able to handle the ultra high res texture either. Moreover, the shadows also look like shit if you do nothing but basic 3D.

Basically, they don't want their game to look like the graphical shitstain Dragon Ball Xenoverse is but they can't do 2D either. So they work their asses off so that it looks good. It still runs at 60FPS like every VS fighting games (worth talking about), just the character animations skip frames to retain an anime feel. Nevermind that the 3D models are reusable for as long as they want if they feel like it instead of having to redo everything from scratch every single time.

It could be a very valid way to do things for "just making a 20 minutes animations". The time consuming process of drawing shit over and over again is why Disney doesn't do 2D movies anymore: time and money. As for japanime, fillers could look decent (even if not on par with finales) and spare us from QUALITY like pic related. It's supposed to be a cabbage. I believe they redrew it for the DVD/BD release like the often do, but if the episode is not too important you can have shit that roughly every week. Very prevalent on animes with a lot of episodes and/or a lot of fillers (DBZ has a lot of QUALITY from an episode to another). Honestly, even Ankama for the Wakfu anime used Flash a lot and draw and animate by hand only very specific features like hands for example.

With 3D you may have a lot of work to do at first, but once you've done the models once you can reuse them as much as you want. Which is also why everybody and their mothers do some 4 seconds long SFM crappy loops.

So yeah, generally I avoid being too harsh on 3D H anime which is kinda a niche market (3D) of a niche market (H) overall except when there's an obvious lack of work or progress; in which cases I can be very caustic.

Don't know if this is the right thread for technical stuff, but regarding CM3D2 installation I managed to install the base game using the Applocale in W10, but for some reason when I try to run under Japanese locale as administrator it gives me this, basically asks which program to use to open the .exe... I've had situations where applocale didn't work nor locale emulator, so now I run win10 in jp locale, with jp formats and I have a lot less problems. Of course some other settings and programs can get stuck in japanese so I'd only really recommend it if you really know what you are doing. In some cases you can make certain programs switch back to your language of choice by deleting certain localization files.

Alright I actually spoke too soon. Managed to install the latest update but when installing the HF patch it says something along the lines of "This patch (v131) may not function well with the game's version (v139), considering downloading a more up to date patch", I click OK anyway but when the install finish and it launches the DOS windows, only to shut down very quickly after this error message.
The French bit says "This sequence doesn't contain any of the corresponding elements".
I'm not really sure what I'm doing wrong here, I did the installation as said in http://wiki.anime-sharing.com/hgames/index.php?title=Custom_Maid_3D_2/Technical_Help#Quick_step-by-step_guide and then installed the updates 1.00-1.12 and 1.39.

It is a server motherboard and it looks like DDR2 era ECC-RAM. It was a double CPU and a raid card installed.
Im sad to say but if the board is gone then he have to reinstall hes software (repair disc can cause compatibility issues) and setup the whole again if this is his workstation.

There is hope because the system looks like a backup server more then a workstation (there is a lag of GPU for rendering), but who knows.

PS. Windows 2003 server (the server equivalent of XP) is still used alot.
