I had written a simple python script to get around that a while back. Works for g.e-hentai as far as I know, but won't work for exhentai. I'm pretty sure exhentai would only require like 3 line change though, since as far as I can remember they're basically setup in the exact same way.
Just runs through all the thumbnail galleries for a hentai, follows the thumbnail to the main image, then downloads it.

args: gallery-url, folder, image

images saved as folder/{image-name}_{pagenum}
and the url being the first gallery page for the hentai (with all the thumbnails)

all args are required, and there's almost zero sanity checking in the script.

I'm continually amazed that people still are having trouble with exhentai.
I've never had any trouble with it, I've been able to use it with my four previous phones along with any computer I've found myself at.

It's dead simple, and this is the method that have never failed me. First, don't mess with your cookies settings at all. Default are fine. You need the cookie that e-hentai provides.

Okay. So.
Clear your cookies and/or history.
Go to ehentai. Log on and just open a gallery.
Now you should have the cookie required. Just go to exhentai and hey presto, you're in.

If this wasn't clear, I've been using the site for years and this method has -never failed-

Lately the popups have been overriding adblock in a certain sense. It'll pop up a full-screen ad, which adblock blocks, except it still creates the overlay which has to be blocked or otherwise eliminated directly, and it's hard to track down what part of the page is actually *causing* that because the element you block to start browsing again isn't the thing that called up the problem.
