Energy Kyo-ka! Manga Translation and Editing

So, since I think it’s a shame for such a good manga that people always seem to be waiting for translations for to stay untranslated, and a lot of people put their hard-owned… whatever e-hentai bounties work with towards a bounty that’s come to nothing for two years, I’m wondering what we could do to actually see this translated at last.
Are there any editors around who didn’t know about the situation already who want to talk to Psyburn and give it a go?
Or, if there aren’t – would there be anyone willing to edit/typeset for me as I translate, or QC for/give tips and guidance to me as I translate it and try to edit it myself? The translation would be no problem, I’d have the scripts out in a week, but I’ve never really edited anything before so if I edited it I would be essentially learning from scratch (though I have two months with absolutely nothing to do now so I’d have a lot of time to devote to it, and I need a translation project, and I may as well make it my favourite ero-manga).

I'd love to see this translated, I can edit it if you provide me the script.
Be warned, I have a job and I do this stuff for fun so don't expect me to translate the whole thing in a week or something like that.
We can give it a try, just translate the first pages of the second chapter and provide me the script, I'll do the edit and post the result in this thread.

Well, I actually ended up getting carried away and did the translation for the whole of chapter 2. I'll be putting any translations I do in this folder.

I've only transcribed the Japanese for parts where I thought the placing might be a little unclear from context - if you want a full transcription to work opposite then I can do one. I've also not done a lot of the fiddly sound effects outside of speech bubbles if they weren't important for comprehension, since Krizalid didn't do them for chapter one, and translating all those sex noises is a massive ballache. But that's something else I could do if people think it'd be better.

To be fair the hentai rendition of Kyouka is pretty damn good. For the most part they've kept to the source material, with lots of the humour intact. Plus the animation quality is great for hentai standards as far as I'm aware. I think there'll be another episode coming soon.

The majority of his works aren't translated actually. He has a ton of mag and doujin stuff alike left untouched. I was even working on one of his mag stories with steven_even from here and he vanished in the middle of it. Most of his work seems pretty easy to edit pic related.
Him and sian do some amazing sluts being sluts stuff. For better or worse at least he has a dedicated translation group with his new mag stuff with fakku. I'd be up for working on most of his stuff, though I'm not the fastest editor.

If you could clarify though, that picture from his pixiv. Is there an unscanned chapter in the story or is it a bonus or something? As mentioned I'd buy it if it's around somewhere.

It's a Wani tank so that's a big hurdle for most translators to begin with. Translation for the doujin would be nice and wouldn't suffer from takedowns.

I'm taking Japanese 101 this year and I'm wondering if I study tons of vocabulary if that will be enough to do very basic translations.

I want to translate hentai for the community and I want to know how some of you guys do it, what font is commonly used? do you take liberties in making the translation sound better than its literal translation?

Generally vocabulary isn't the problem with japanese translations, you can just look that up after all. It's more the grammar and that it's a completely context based language, with much of the context left unsaid, and so there are 5 different ways to translate everything.

The hardest part about "translations" is that you are rather "localising". There is a lot of Japanese contexts and references that, well, only the Japanese understand. To do a proper translation (or at least an ideal one) is to go one step beyond and localise the context from Japanese to Western; something that is quite difficult to do if you aren't from Japan.

I'd imagine the guys who are translating Energy Kyouka are changing what is actually being said in Japanese into something that us Westerners can understand/relate to.

Great work, and perfect timing too, as I just finished translating EX01, which has an interesting titbit about this chapter:
Notice how Harada is just kinda thrown in there for no reason, appears in only a few panels, and has no sex scene (or indeed, any full sex scenes not featuring the shota after her introductory chapter)? EX01 was actually the original plan for chapter 8, and Sherry would have remained in the series to be one of the idols in chapter 9. But for some undisclosed reason they decided to make chapter 8 Harada's chapter instead, and so Harada got thrown into chapter 9 because 'there just weren't any other characters'. I always thought it was weird how they never show her doing anything sexual after chapter 8, almost as if they didn't want to have her having sex with anyone but the shota, but I guess that explains it - she's essentially a placeholder.

Some people seem to make quite a bit off of ad revenue and allowing donations for bonus chapters if you're actually needing a bit of money. If you haven't paid attention to the WN/LN translation scene people are throwing money at pretty bad translators usually. A couple outright say they just MTL and still people pay them. One more recent upstart is making 40+ in ad rev a week who just MTLs garbage. Enough ranting about "translations" though.
Some things I have seen that a lot of people have shown interest in on the h-side of novels.

Unfortunately I've not had the chance, as I've had a really torrid time with IRL stuff lately, to the point that I've almost had to give up on translating from lack of time, only finishing Kyouka out of duty. I did actually finally get the chance to check it out, and although it's not quite what I expected structure-wise I'm liking what I'm reading so far. I thought it was going to be more like the kinds of published erotic light novels where there's sex from the word go, and so I wasn't really up for doing anything with it if it was largely like the (pretty cliche and far too numerous) set-up chapters. But once it hit the first sex scene it became far more like the kind of thing I want to translate. I still need to read a bit more and consider what projects I can commit myself to, but this is definitely on my list now.

Honestly I don't know what I was expecting of exhentai.org I think I can make due with nhentai.net and I don't need deal with the hassle of cookies working in Incognito mode and deleting browsing history in normal mode.

And to be honest torrenting isn't much of an incentive. With the Hentoid app I download the manga in an instant from nhentai, hitomi.la, asmhentai, Tsumino and hentaicafe.
