Unfortunately they run in the same environment under the same name internally. Unless you can reverse-engineer the binary I don't think you can. I won't go as far as to say it cannot be done--there's a lot that I never knew this engine could do already--but it doesn't seem there's an 'easy' solution.

He's slowly figuring out why things are the way they are on the new TS, but it's taking so much time that he's getting tired. Creating a new game using the new version would be simple, so he's thinking of keeping TF on the old TS version and doing a new HitomeBore with the new TS instead.

If he really said all those things, he's probably just bored. I put out a quick and dirty fix for the layers on ulmf yesterday, and I find it hard to believe that with all the Japanese people who bought his game, there isn't a single one who knows TyranoScript/JavaScript and has offered to help him.

He's definitely got himself into a mess though. I've been thinking about making a "paper doll" plugin for TyranoScript that could manage all the compositing on Sylvie with some JavaScript and a few macros. I already sort of got a proof of concept working with some nice fading transitions using the built-in graphics layers, but it's still pretty rough around the edges. And a solution like this would mean making a ton of changes to the ks files anyway, which it sounds like he doesn't want to do.

Since 1.16 is already done and over with, yeah, we're moving on to the 1.20+ method. No more numbered directories.

Works on Linux, should work on Mac also (if they have find, xargs and fgrep there). Gives you all instances where "Sylvie" is written. Just change these. If you use vim, you can use:

:%s#Sylvie#Sophie#g

And that for each file. Ba-dam. you got Sophie in the game.

On Windows, you can just open all the .ks files with NotePad++ and use the replace function for all open files.

You can actually do that without opening everything. Use "Find in File" in Notepad++ instead, as it has a replace function. Let's you do a whole directory at once without actually bothering to open every single file. ;)

New translation plugin. Should work with the betas without having to be updated all the time. Use it with a Japanese scenario folder only.

I can edit the title screen buttons but not anything beyond that, it just stands there.
If you want to try you can just extract the .apk as a zip and zip it back up with store (no compression).

Yeah, I think this is what we'll use going forward, assuming no unforeseen setbacks. It should make it easier for the translators too.

You just copy it over a fresh data folder. It's designed to (hopefully) work with any version. Right now it's only for the script proper though, so character's names and tooltips will not be translated (and the UI of course). I'm hoping to patch the UI using a similar method, so that the .ks files don't have to be touched (except for things like clothing mods).

This method doesn't do anything to the UI, so unfortunately the full patch will still require replacing game images. If I decide against including the Santa outfit then I can get by with just using the bootstrap plus the translated UI and decensor, but putting in Santa means completely changing whole scripts and adding new methods.

Though I'm sure there's a way to bootstrap that too, it's a lot of trouble for very little benefit.

well if you decide on adding santa maybe do it with a few copy/pasted empty outfits as sort of a "custom outfit" section so pictures can be dropped in (after being named right of course)... not necessarily a translation thing but could be useful in the future.
