After the last great war ended, the people started rebuilding the cities. The Western Territories received fortunes to help them in their effort from their new protectors from over the Pond. The Eastern Territories were instead punished by their bearish neighbor and their most learned and wise inhabitants died off in prisons.
After the rebuild, many decades of peace and prosperity followed in the Western Territories, while the Eastern were decaying and suffering in destitution. The Elven people in the Cold Northern lands were tranquil and their homesteads plentiful. No wolves in their forests, no jeopardy for their livelihood. Their children grew in bliss. The Elven women asked their men to lay away their bows and spears. Instead, be poets and gentle minstrels, the women said to their men, be sensitive.
But, as time passed, Harks and Harpies slowly found their way at the reins of the domains. They began telling stories about the faraway Sand Orks and Coal Trolls.
Day after day, they said that Orks and Trolls are just like Elves, no different. "We're all creatures of the world", "Trolls were oppressed", "Orkslam is a creed of peace".
These unrelenting treacherous tales took roots in the minds of many Elves. They believed them and defended these sick fantasies as far as nothing was yet happening to them and their kin to remind them of the cruel, old truth. But it did happen, all the time, and as it did, the Harks and Harpies made good work to hide it well.
The Orcs and Trolls would not believe how easy it was and did not understand why the Elves would give away their own riches but they did not delay to take and grab and demand.
It will be enough only when they have all of it and Elven are no more.
Disclaimer: one of the actresses in this play has been seen in the company of a Coal Troll. It's a shame and very regrettable.
