I assume you want to know how much water you can safely put in a sort of gravity powered enema contraption without the risk of going pop?

If so, it somewhat depends. If you're a beginner and your body hasn't "gotten used" to the feeling, you'll probably tap out at a winebottles worth (let's call it 0,75L, about one and a half pints I guess? Or what americans call a fifth?).
Anyone can safely take half a liter, no problem what so ever, but that's not all that ambitious now is it!

After a while you'll get way bigger volumes inside of yourself, like 1 and a half, 2 liters, no sweat. There are however 2 things to keep in mind:
1) air inflation is feelingwise a lot stranger in the beginning, but is a lot less messy (you aren't spraying a jet of water out of your ass, you just fart out the air), a lot easier to hold inside for longer periods of time while finishing your business, and ultimately safer, as you aren't flushing good bacteria out of your system (forget what they say about "air embolism", a reasonable amount of air in your bowels is just fine, you have to fuck up big time to really suffer health consequences from pumping air in your ass with anything less then a full on compressor). It's really the way to go if you want to do this shit more often than about once every 1-2 months.

2) if, after all that, you still want to go with water (which would be a legit choice, water is less weird going in and less compressable, so your belly will feel "harder"), the the amount is not as important, much more important is a sort of tap system, any way to stop the flow, even if it's a clothing pin on the rubber hose, just anything that will controll the flow. Sometimes you have to let the water/air move about a bit inside of you, in order to get more in. Or maybe you get a sort of cramp, so you want to be able to stop the flow of water for 5 minutes, until everything settles and you can carry on.
