I use "IP Webcam Pro" which is a paid app, however there is a free version called "IP Webcam" and it's very good as well. The main reason I bought the paid version is to take the small icon off of the video recording.

But anyway, you can record video and also have it automatically take pictures even if the screen is locked, the app is in the background, or both. There are sound/motion detection options that you can configure so that it will only take pictures/record video if there is sound or motion present.

I have this little bluetooth speaker that works with my phone and I use it to listen to music all the time. If you want to be really stealthy, use something like that and leave it next to your device and nobody will ever question a thing. Just make sure the screen is locked, flash mode is disabled, and you have a password set on your phone to be safe. To get the video and pictures your device downloaded, you can either have it save directly to the devices storage or have it streamed (if that's the correct terminology) over the internet, where you can then download it from your computer. This can also be password protected so people can't randomly log into it and look through the files.

Nah, honestly you can do almost everything with the free version. The only difference is there's a little watermark on the video recording, and then it also gives you some more features with some of the more technical options that I don't really use.

Keep in mind when you're doing it over your computer you have to manually go onto the IP that it's streaming over and turn on the video recording manually. Just go to the IP http://###.###.#.#:#### for example, and there are options on how you want to record. You can have it record endlessly, or do it in segments of however many hours you want, where the video will start recording over itself after it reaches that time. Does that make sense?

To actually begin recording, look directly below where the screen is and to the left, where it says "recorder control" and you can optionally enter a name for the recording, then click record circular or record manual and it will begin recording. Think of it like the principal of the Number Station. The transmitter (camera in this case) can be discovered, but the receiver can never be located, as it can work without any physical connection to the transmitter.
