Nah man, there's a HUGE difference between enforcing a safe, natural substance like marijuana vs. a highly threatening (to the Gov't anyway) synthetic substance. Consider this: marijuana is a plant. It comes from seeds which grow in the ground and produce more seeds. In order to eliminate marijuana, you'd have to destroy every grower and all of their seeds, which is a fool's errand because seeds are tiny and have evolved to be able to be stored for years without dying.

Let's compare that to a synthetic substance like LSD. LSD must be produced in a laboratory using special equipment and particular chemicals. While some of the chemicals can be extracted from common sources, others are themselves synthetic substances which need to be created in a lab. Both these precursors and the laboratory equipment used in the production process are heavily regulated.

LSD is quite unique in that its effective dose is absolutely tiny, on the order of 1/10,000th of a gram. That is, for every one gram of LSD you produce, you can create 10,000 doses. You'd only need about 40 kilograms (~88 pounds) to give every single person in the U.S. a dose of LSD-- To put that in perspective, there's probably 40kg of Tylenol at your local Walmart. If LSD weren't insanely regulated, it would be absolutely everywhere.

Keep in mind this is for a drug that is AT WORST an effective poison (because you're probably gonna die if you start hallucinating while driving on the freeway or other dangerous situation). Any Senator or House Rep is going to absolutely lose their shit at a drug that upsets the status quo as much as X-Change.
