The interesting thing about this phenomenon is that TECHNICALLY it should work just fine, like the gif. Barrel under chin, pointing center mass of the cranium, brains out the top.

Where people fuck up is: they angle the barrel forward through the face when they squeeze the trigger, especially with cheap revolvers. Then not only are you not dead, you're a fucked mess and your best hope is to bleed out or suffocate from blood and debris lodged in your trachea.
