OK, seriously, this lifter dropped the bar only a few inches off his chest, leaving only a fraction of a second between when he lost control and it crushed his chest.

The spotters were in place and even paying attention, but no human being could have reacted fast enough to grab the bar on the way down. Even if they had grabbed it, at 400lbs they probably couldn't have stopped it. He didn't stand a chance.

The spotters *DID* do their job in getting that bar off of him within a few seconds. Had they not been there, he probably would have died right there on the bench. Had the first impact itself not caused a fatal injury, they would have saved him.

Lesson here, is if you're working with a weight that can *KILL* you if you drop it, don't rely on human spotters. . .use safety pins.

The flares at the start of the video are from the taliban lighting up their target area.
So everyone on base (camp bastion) knows a mortar strike is iminent also, which is why he is filming.
This happens frequently.
The defense system picks up that there are projectiles (mortars) flying towards the base and alarms sound.
Then the mortars are shot out the sky before impact.

The reason the guy is shouting is because he is a NCO (non commissioned officer) in charge of a small unit (section) of a mortar company. The guy shouting wants his section to load HE (high explosive) so that they are ready for the inevitable order to fire on the location that the enemy fire came from.
