Look at a place like West Virginia. They have a MASSIVE opiate problem. The poorest US state. Gun violence doesnt happen in similar numbers because EVERYONE is armed.

What causes gun violence is a comparatively unarmed population, a disdain for laws and rules, poverty, and culture. There is a reason in places of the US with extremely high gun ownership, gun crime doesnt really happen. Same for Switzerland and Israel. High rates of gun ownership mean nothing. This is true, however you dont seem to grasp the concept of what people consider a threat. A threat can be a lot more than a person standing in front of you with a gun/club. A threat to your accepted and known way of life can many times be much more moving than a threat of immediate violence. Humans are unique in that we take proactive measures to avoid those immediate threats. We have fore site and will actively hunt/neutralize those threats before they become threats. The problem with that, is as I said, how do you as a cop know when someone you pull over isn't a whackadoo? And that there's a big chance that because it's his right, he most probably also have a gun.

You can't just pick and chose what fits your narrative. I'm trying to see it from all possible sides here, and that means considering the the fact that police can never know, so the police ALWAYS have to be on edge, to a point where innocent lives are lost. But then if you really want to crunch the numbers and look at it statistically, I suppose it isn't a lot. But I reckon every innocent life matters, so to me that means little.

I agree, and as I said, disarming the populace at this point isn't going to help much, if at all. But at the same time, I don't think more guns are the answer, when said culture of violence exists. And then we're back to what I said in the first comment; that it seems to be a lose/lose situation no matter what. I honestly think the second amendment has dug the american civilization into a hole it can't get out of. I think gun control should've have been made muuuch stricter ages ago, with a long process of psychological evaluation and proper gun training, to prevent just anybody from getting a gun.

In most cases yes, but generally no. We do often go out of our way to help those not part of our "group". There's a reason why we've gone away from living in small tribes and instead living in large countries and cities, packed with millions. That is because there's safety in numbers. Sure, we're more inclined to help those that look like ourselves, but most of that now has become a social, religious or political construct, as we're capable of deeper thoughts than our ancient ancestors.

That does not apply anymore. We know for a fact, through science that the physical differences on certain groups of humans are minimal, if not almost none-existing, so therefore the differences we have can only be a social construct, and thus not a natural thing. It is something which we have created ourselves in the past, in order to dehumanize one another, so that killing each other didn't feel so bad. That is what it essentially comes down to. If we have to kill each other, it's important for us to be in a state of mind where we can tell ourselves that it was necessary, and thus not feel all too terrible about it. Which again tells me, that killing each another man will never be natural.
