Since I saw a few people who shockingly had never seen or even heard of this movie, I decided to Story Time it for you degenerates tonight in 1-minute webm segments.
Heavy Metal was released in 1981 and is of course a loose adaptation of several stories from the popular and long-running adult comics anthology magazine. It is without a doubt my favorite animated film.
Enjoy the show! And please make sure to comment every now and then to help keep the thread bumped. One of the reasons I do these Story Time threads is to hear your thoughts as we go along.
For those unfamiliar with the source material, it is several independent shorts which are connected by a theme which will be revealed in the opening segment.
Here we gooooooooo!
This is one of my favorite movies. Hands down one of the greatest movie soundtracks ever.

literally worse than rap, faggot
>>11099942
Is this how you talk to people in real-life social situations?
>>11099952

I like your thread already, keep it up.

>>11100000
Quints!
Yes, this is the only reason why I am here.
Haven't seen Heavy Metal since I was a kid in the 90s and we had HBO, Showtime and Cinemax
>>11100019
Settle in and enjoy. It holds up very well.
>>11099949
Low key burn
Great soundtrack as well. I was just out of high school when it was released.
Did you know that Matty Simmons- also the editor of National Lampoon magazine, and the guy who brought out the Diner's Club card- that's the first credit card- was responsible for this movie being put out?
Looks like the audio is a little out of sync in some of these webms, but it comes and goes. Doesn't get too bad.
Anyone know how to avoid this? It doesn't happen on every video I chop up, just a few.
>>11100060
That's pretty cool, I didn't know that.
Also, I thought I was the oldest guy here. I was 4 when this movie came out. Did you see it in the theater? I saw it first on cable and then owned it on VHS, DVD etc eventually.
>>11099926
This. the soundtrack is definitely one of the best out there, such a bad ass movie to go hand in hand
>>11099909
loved doing shrooms and watching heavy metal. felt like the movie was 6 hours long.
>>11100162
Imagine being this thirsty for (You)s
This is one of the coolest things anyone has done on GIF in a long time
Is this what that south park scene where kenny is high on cat piss is referencing?
>>11100225
Thanks! I do this pretty much every weekend. I story-timed all the episodes of Naked Attraction and used to do DareRing story-time threads. I have two other active movie threads right now, from Friday and Saturday.
heavy metal is really good, OP you the real mvp
Nigga did you cut up all of heavy metal into webms? Why?
>>11100269
So I could story-time it for my niggaz here on /gif/ you silly fool. I thought I made that clear.
>>11099909
I would say I fucking love this film but I need to watch it again.
Ironically, I asked someone the other day if they'd seen it. Disappointed with the answer, I recommended it to them. Honestly a great choice.
From plot to soundtrack and humor, it's on point on many different levels.
Thank you for this thread.
>>11100278
Don't forget the tits! Tits also make this movie great, along with everything else you mentioned.

Exactly. That whole episode, in the scenes where Kenny/Gerald are in the dreamland, is all based on Heavy Metal. Same animation style and all...
>>11100288
Gahaha. Right on man
>>11099909
Did Heavy Metal 2 ever get made?

Is this the fifth ficking element almost literally?
Nice job OP, thanks for making these

Your welcome.
>>11100393
Heavy Metal 2000 got made. It is trash.
>>11100415
It is not even the fifth element figuratively.
>>11100082
Thus starts my favorite track.
Waited for you to finish to comment. gj OP
What a blast from the past. Reminds of my days looking for a late night fap as a kid, but staying for the whole movie because of all the different storylines.
>>11100519
Thanks! Couple of decent faps to be had, if you're young and not picky.
>>11099909
I applaud this effort. It played forever at midnight on Saturday at the local movie house. I remember the very first time I saw it, drunk as hell, I stood up in the theater and yelled, "The Space Shuttle does not have bomb bay doors!"
I was asked to leave.
>>11100019
I haven't seen it since I was a kid in the 00's and VHS randomly played it sometime after midnight.

This board is lucky to have you, OP.
There is something incredibly charming about the drawing style of those old movies. Thanks for sharing, OP.
>>11099949
Fuck, when this looped it scared the shit out of me
>>11100415
It is obvious.

nice dies irae motif. On another music related note (pun intended) I never noticed the similarities in composition style between this and Ghostbusters before...
>>11101570
Ard was from Earth, just like Den and Katherine. The stupid bitch was probably from Earth too.
holy shit, i just watched this tonight. gotta love Heavy Metal!
>>11099909
Good job, OP. Heavy Metal will always have a dear place in my heart. Decades of watching it have only polished its edge.
Best animated movie ever! Thanks OP!
>>11099909
After all these many, many years later whenever someone starts talking nonsense, or I don't understand what they're saying, John Candy's voice pops in my head and I blurt out "I had no idea what she was talking about" and that line by him is still funny to me to this day. Thanks OP.
Dude thanks so much for this. I had it on VHS recorded from HBO way back in the late 80s early 90s.... The stoned space pilots still crack me up 27 years later...
>>11099909
holy shit this is fucking great thanks for the thread
>>11099909
I watched this fucked up on ketamine and have no memory of it apart from tits and that south park episode.
>>11099909
Thanks op, you're doing great work!
>>11100575
lol, I've seen the movie so many times but that thought never occurred to me
>>11099942
ohohooohohoh i like vaporwave hwhohohohohoho electronic music
I was amazed at the accuracy of the interior details on the B-17.
>>11107460
A good chunk of the film was rotoscoped - filmed live-action, then cel-art was traced over the top. I imagine they toured a parked Flying Fortress to get the interior shots.
>>11100393
dont bring it up...
Cat piss is one hell of a drug...
>>11100109
Not the OP, but no, you're not the oldest guy here. I was 17 when this came out. I wasn't really interested is seeing it, but a buddy of mine was like, "Anon, you've got to see this flick. You're gonna love it." and he dragged me to the theater. He was right, I did love it.
>>11108944
Hooray for old guys!
Sound off if you're 40+
Legit oldfags unite!
it would be awesome if this was remade with modern animation, with smoother and remastered sounds but the movies in itself isn't changed
the the flying fortress horror scene needs to be its own movie
>>11100101
Don Felder- Taking a ride (on Heavy Metal)
The song is about drag racing. and It still fits in this movie.

Thanks for thread OP was a great time watching it.
>>11100109
I was 5 when this came out, but I discovered it as a teen. Heh.
>>11099956

>>11102344
Harold Ramis is in this.
>>11099909
Thanks OP this was a good trip on memory lane.
I wonder how well this fares with 2017 SJWs...
Holy shit OP thank you!
>>11100415
But that never happened in the fifth element

>>11112147
You sound... triggered.
>>11113050
Triggered by the inclusion of sjws into this storytime thread. Who gives a fuck
It's like those dudes who get triggered by black guys in webms. Can't focus on the, girl, too riled by their conflicting feelings for nigger dick
Who gives a fuck, let good be good, why ruin it with faggotry

>>11099909
OP, I have this movie on Blu Ray and I am so glad that you've gone and done a thread on it. I'm gonna pop this sucker in tonight and give it another watch.
>>11100415
And Luc Besson claimed that he came up with the story as a kid. (he was dreaming about it)
>>11114999
Is there a commentary audio track on that BluRay? I would love to hear something like that.
>>11100415
Jesus christ try watching it for more than 2 minutes before you start yelling LITTERALLY BLAH BLAH BLAH you moron. You sound like my wife, blathering HEY WHAT MOVIE IS THIS before the title even appears on the screen or HEY IS THAT as soon as an actor walks into the shot before taking a breath and realizing she's wrong. Learn to observer your surroundings and make assessments instead of running your mouth. You'll be a better person for it.
>>11099909
I need this cartooning, music, and film series to go on... the world is far more shameful without such works of art being married on screen.
OP here. I'll Story Time another 80s titty movie on Friday night, and another vintage porn on Saturday night. I might do another NSFW cartoon (if I can find one good enough, any suggestions? NO HENTAI BULLSHIT) on Sunday, but maybe not because I'll be watching SummerSlam.
>>11099909
thanks OP! That was a pretty good time
>>11117707
Maybe a Ralph Bakshi film? Fire & Ice, Wizards, Fritz the Cat ..... pretty much anything of his if you're so motivated. I saw you passed on Cool World, which is understandable since it's pretty low-test. Just a thought.
And, thanks much for Heavy Metal. Very nice.
>>11100058
>that smile after the rape charge
>that jewy as fuck lawyer
>that kino spit take the judge does
>that cape flourish
>>11120128
Bakshi's a demigod. Wizards is awesome.
I just now noticed this thread.
>>11120128
Wizards is one of my favorite animated moves, but I don't think it's NSFW enough to be board-appropriate.
The hell. I see this movie two weeks ago before a concert at a friend of a friends house and suddenly random strangers know it and /gif/ posts it.
>>11120870
It's a pretty well-known movie, anon.
>>11100203

i feel ya, watched it on acid. my god it was like i'd never seen it before!
loads of visual symbolism that i'd completely missed the first 3 times watching it sober(well high on weed). far from being bored with the long drawn out scenic scenes i was completely engrossed by them, it was like i was watching it for the first time! had a friend that totally didnt get it, though im guessing that was because he didnt put his phone down the entire fucking time. god damn some people just cant be in the moment
>>11099909
