How to deal with envy?

I've been a NEET for the past 3 years,I've grown fond of this lifestyle,It's pretty comfy and infinitely better than working, the problem is that having a very low-self esteem I've been dealing with feelings of envy and jealousy my entire life.

It certainly doesn't help that I've been lower middle-class for my entire life (bordering on poverty sometimes) my parents work relatively low-paying jobs and they surprisingly manage to give me a bit of money sometimes,not too much though,I can't afford to buy a gaming PC,a good phone (maybe it's a normie feeling,but I really like smartphones) or anime goodies (even when I would really like to have some figurines),I consider myself lucky to even have a 2nd hand PS4 and some games.

As I said I have a bit of a problem with envy and jealousy,when I see someone online or IRL bragging about their latest gaming PC (apparently everyone has one of those except me heh),their huge collection of anime merch,the conventions they attend or their vacations in Germany/Italy/Japan/whatever I can't stop thinking "I would like to be like him,It's not fair I would like to enjoy those things too" and I keep thinking the same for some time,sometimes ruining my enjoyment for days.

I would like to be content with what I have and stop thinking about what others have,but I can't stop thinking that if I had money I would be truly happy,and considering that I'm an unemployable NEET having a lot of cash is not really possible for me.

Any advice? This is probably a very specific problem but I would appreciate your insights.

Everyday i wake up to thinking about how i will one day die. I don't believe in any of the afterlifes, so i really don't think that I will go to this heaven where all my desires will be granted. I think that social media is going too far and it's literally fucking up the world.

Your facebook is connected to your instagram which is conected to your linkedin which is conected to your phone number. Your boss, your friend , your mum, they all can know what you are doing and what they are doing.

And now it's not only your pictures , they post what they are doing the very moment they are doing it and the geographical location.
And I'm not telling wether it's illegal not to have them (because I don't)

But you have to admit no sucubu will be interested in a boy before browsing his instagram, and no enterprise will be interested in hiring a manager before browsing his linkedin or whatever.

No relationship can start nowdays before the other part has checked your full name, location, pictures, name of your friends, what you've done and judge you based on it.

We're literally entering in some RELATIONSHIPS FREE MARKET ERA where somebody quickly can check wether you are "popular" or not based on your followers number and then like you or not.

I work and participate in several groups including a theatre company, giving me access to small time acting / producing gigs and hopefully directing eventually once I work my way up more. I've been a NEET for almost 9 years. The key is being frugal and creative as fuck. Creative hobbies make up for a lack of expensive tech, as long as you have access to the programs you can dump infinite hours into learning code, music, art, or just educating yourself.

Also movies and shows are basically free if you know where to find them, and even shitty laptops can play pre 2010 games. Also take good care of your body.

The hardest parts are figuring out how to go about this and really this requires the most research and work in the process. Because once you start on the road to getting out of this mentality, it won't matter how you do it just that you do it.

I tell all the men I meet who are feeling down that one of the simplest ways of starting this is working out 3 times a week. You will set a schedule for a task that you have to stick to and you don't even have to go nuts in the gym. You get a good workout program and stick to it and after a few months you'll see some kind of result. For me it was what I needed to realize that if I work at anything hard enough, I will get a result. It's not always great or successful but even in making mistakes we learn lessons.
