Breeding Season died because of mismanagement and the lead artist (S-Purple) pulling the plug, and then almost immediately afterward they announced a similar game with S-Purple called Cloud Meadow.

Going to be honest here, the game's not that good. The music is (as porn games go) crisp and upbeat, the concept at least sounds cheerful enough (they're clearly going for a "happy" aesthetic rather than the more nebulous nature of Breeding Season) and the animations as we're seeing are singularly incredible. You won't find better drawn smut done in the animated form, and that's including most hentai.

However... The meat of what makes a game a game is shit. The combat mechanic's kind of stupid - you don't buy a Harvest Moon game for the combat, after all - and even then the Harvest Moon bits are just threadbare. I blame the controls. The breeding is only fun for the titillation, yet you can unlock all that in the album with the flick of a switch, so you don't even really need to play.

I'm happy that they stopped adding more monsters into the game and are now focusing on the opposite-gender beasts (along with NPCs) but that still feels like feature creep. Time will tell, and I think S-Purple learned his lesson, but I just don't have the faith to give them my dollarydoos anymore.

I try to forget most who do it, but LemonFont is a great example. Breeding Seasons was criminally mismanaged and run by genuinely incompetent people who had no aspirations and could barely program a functioning game - when they did actually work on the game, and not take time off to participate in random game jams, where all the lovely art he drew was taken and destroyed with shitty paperdoll tweening.
