I never used justin.tv but my guess is they are using these non-gaming categories to reintegrate what justin.tv was, normal people streaming anything. Actually male streamers are way more successful than girl streamers.

The number of women that have popular streams is still pretty low.

At least when I scroll through the games that I watch, outside of Overwatch, I NEVER see women with more than 150 viewers, even if they're good at the game. There are only three that I can think of that get over 500 or 1k viewers and two of them were pro-gamers back in the dark ages of when girls didn't play video games.

There are some girls like that but they tend not to be successful a few (the early comers) did slip through the cracks but I actually do think twitch does a good job of not giving these girls partnerships and moderating their channels when they're being over sexual. Yes occasionally they get a big donation but that doesn't happen often and a lot of times those are troll donations that get charged back. Even now as I look at the streamer list for Overwatch there are only 3 women breaking 100 viewers.

But most of the girls that stream do actually enjoy video games and don't dance of stream for donations or wear skimpy clothes. You're seeing a super small portion of an already small number of women streamers. Every time these threads happen its the same girls posted over and over again. If sluttiness was as popular as you think it is we'd have an endless supply of twitch webms.
