If you were to go to a place called Madeley, in Shropshire, England, you'd find an old man who walks awkwardly, who wears a flat cap and long blue coat. He has white hair and glasses.

For some considerable time I'd watched him walk around our area picking up litter. It's quite clearly a difficult task for him. He's slow and walks with a limp.

Well one day he walked past my garage, where I was playing the piano, and I stopped and thanked him for picking up the rubbish. I can't exactly remember, but I think I asked him why he did it, or just popped up in conversation. I'm not sure.

The reason he picks up the litter is he was actually a Chinese Prisoner Of War. (POW) And was raised on the camp. They had to make themselves useful on the camp, or they'd be executed. This shit is so ingrained into who he is as a person, he does it decades later. I've never once seen anyone thank him, never seen anyone talk to him, just occasionally laugh about the dude in the dirty coat, picking up trash.

My dad died about 2 months ago. He got into a car crash and died from complications resulting from it.

He and I never really got along all that well. We'd argue almost daily sometimes, we'd yell at each other and go to bed angry.

A few years ago, he was told that he had an inverted T-wave on his heart EKG. This essentially meant one of his heart valves was failing. I wasn't around much to see it, but according to my sister and my mom his health had been rapidly declining over the past few months. So much so that he couldn't even walk to the refrigerator and back without breathing extremely hard.

He got into a car crash on February 25th, and two days later he passed away. Nothing can prepare you for that feeling of knowing that your father will never be around again. Nothing.

I never realized just how much he and I talked, and how much I would ask him for advice on things. Having a dad who was as old as he was meant that he knew almost everything there was to know. Every day I see things that remind me of him, and I still wish I could call him up and tell him what I was up to.

My advice would be to spend as much time with your dad as you possibly, physically can. Even if you don't get along all that well, he's still your dad. He still loves you, and only ever wants the best for you, even if it doesn't seem like it on the surface. Record videos, take pictures, save your text messages. They're all you'll have of him when he's gone. Hopefully your lives will be better by that point, and you'll no longer feel the need to kill yourselves.

Tell your dad that you love him, too. I was lucky enough to have the chance to say that to my dad before saying goodbye for the last time.

Completely out of context, but this thread just really proves how Racism isn't really an Issue currently. Out of 271 replies, and 208 posters, there are just 4 'Nigger' used- one isn't in a bad context, other one is just being used as a 'curse word' and not racially charged, and the other Two really are racist.

Anyway, this is 4Chan, where everyone is anonymous and free to express whatever feelings they have- which is why it's full of people speaking their minds everywhere within the site. Yet in this candid thread, where there's nothing going on about race: Much like most real life situations, there's almost no one being racist.

It's really a wonder to see what anonymity does, and how much the media pushes 'Racism' that really isn't as widespread as we are led to think.
