In my city, they aren't usually bigger than ~25 people at a time. The meets are usually always catered and ends with a sales presentation (whatever is new and hot on the market).

Not as big as if they were held in a big city, but meets around me still get a decent amount of people (10ish or so). Usually pretty 50/50 gender wise. Meets are a really great way to jump right in and start learning. There usually aren't any scenes going on at meets, and they're built to be more socially oriented. We usually have a rope workshop or w.e so people can practice their ties and new things, tips are given, etc.
