motion graphics is very involved. be prepared to learn 3d, art direction of course along with proficiently in animation techniques and fx, illustration helps. you need to develop a good sense of storytelling.

Learn cinema 4d. Learn after effects. You automattically learn video editing from this too.

around 2005 when i was in middle-school i started making these 350ish x 16 px forum signature things called "userbars". i was blown away by the idea of being able to move around transparent graphical layers in a copy of photoshop elements that came with my brick of a sony vaio laptop shovelware.

then some DJ slash computar haker dude saw my shit on our local now-defunct GTA vidya forum and needed posters and some branding.

at the beginning do what you actually like as in do what feels captivating because it's the greatest motivation of all to learn something to the point of intuition - being able to sit there making something for 5 hours and repeating it numerous times.

later i got into web design because i wanted to make 4chin userstyles. again - captivation. then into more frontend web development stuff because i liked things that work dynamically.

i'm pretty strong on branding and typography, but that alone doesn't keep me interested, it's more of a backup thing that lets me claim i know something.

i've tried doing motion graphics, and yeah, it is very involved. cinema4d 3d animation software alone feels magnitude more complex compared to something like photoshop. there's nothing like working for 9 hours for a 5 second animation.
