It was made in MS Paint, I'm not a graphic designer, I may in the future like to go down that path, I'm not really sure, this is kind of a start, please be completely and brutally honest.

That's the exact sign you'd see in a tiny family-owned coffee shop in fucking Cornwall or something. That is, anyone could make it.

Add some sort of depth to the moon, and possible some kind of shadow. At least
>>
>>311612
*possibly
>>
>>311612
How would you recommend I add depth to it?
>>
>>311615
A variation on the color going down the moon? adding shadow inside the smaller "craters"?

Dunno.

Unless you need to work in CMYK, and then you're fucked.
>>
>>311637
used gimp to show op an idea, if I wanted to completely do the job for op, I would have just easily have developed it in inkscape.

You need to be more deliberate in your thinking. You're wading out into the goop of your subconscious, hoping to fish out some serviceable concept And that approach works less than one in one hundred times. Assess the goals of the client. Examine the brands of their top local (regional, or national) competitors. Determine the traits common to the most successful brands in their field. Learn how to steal from them. And then, learn when to ignore them and spite them.

Would the logo still be legible if you shrunk it down to the size of a pencil eraser and printed it off in a single color? Could you build a full visual identity around it? Does your typeface compliment your mark? Is your color palette appropriate for the tone of the client's business? Will it need to be revised in five years? Ten years? Fifty?

Sketch. Sketch out every idea you can. You should have dozens, maybe hundreds of thumbnail sketches before you start working digitally.

Stay detached from your ego. You must learn to kill your babies. This example I've posted is something I'd discard almost immediately, but it's one of hundreds of possible starting points. Any idea you have produced can be done better, more efficiently, more cleverly, more beautifully. This is where lurking /gd/ is helpful. You will have your feelings hurt. You need that. You have to become hard on yourself, your own most petty critic.

Learn. Go through the sticky. Read about the fundamentals of layout, composition, typography, color. Buy paper copies and reference them constantly. This is not a new profession. Rules have been established.

And don't you ever use a script fucking typeface again unless you're capable of doing it by hand. Ever.

i love this
>>
>>311799
first and last quarter should be the same but mirrored
also i don't think the logo is easily ecognizable as a cup
maybe a 3d view or just adding the plate below the cup would work better
>>
>>311858
I agree with the mirrored thing.
But do not do anything 3D with it.

Can't even tell that it's supposed to be a coffee cup.

Gotta add some depth and simplicity all the pictures everyone posted are wrong say a company gives you a ton of information a name and all that you cant change it you build off the information they give you,

You cannot remove the word "the" if the person who hired you gives you the name "The moonlight cafe" Although you might see it as better to work with and a better name in general the likelyhood they already copyrighted information with the word "the" in it is highly likely same with email adresses etc
