>Implying someone will pay $500 to create a logo for a lemonade stand.

Also they have very nice art, some designs there are quite good and someone has put hours to make them perfect (not the one who is selling them though).
>>
If I wanted to be a cheap whore, I'd live in a brothel.
>>
You know I'm actually getting pretty sick of this "don't use freelance sites/just find better clients/just charge more" rhetoric. I have seen literally zero actual advice on how to actually do it.

I don't know of a single person or business who actually paid for design work in my town, let alone pay $5000 just for a logo. Just asking to be paid at all got me laughed at in several situations, what the fuck are people in my position supposed to do, all move to San Francisco to find better clients? Come the fuck on.
>>
>>295887
Designers design for other designers. That's what the industry has come to nowadays. Design is slowly dying and we all know it.
>>
>>295887
I wanted to make album covers, flyers etc.

I go to a lot of festivals, I meet people and make friends with musicians, I TELL them what I do (even if I hadnt really done much at that point)
I put stuff up online
I remind people of what I do, when people ask me how I am I always mention in some way how my work is going.

recently I put together a promo pack with a couple of postcards and an advert like a mini portfolio showcasing some of my best pieces from the last few years
I put together a list of addresses for all the rehersal spaces and recording studios in the city as these will be points of contact for small independent bands/musicians to see my work and mailed them out
I phoned up to follow up and make sure they got them/ ask if they put them up on their noticeboard etc

printed promotion is still pretty recent for me the most important thing is to socialise, meet new people in casual situations, TALK about what you do
>>
>>295887
also you wont get $5000 for a logo, if youre just starting out you will get small clients, probably $200 max to begin with but treat it like it is a $5000 job and the quality of your work will speak for itself
>>
>>296003
Like I said, local business might as well not even exist for me, and I'm not in a situation where I could just pack up and move. Which is why I turned to online where seemingly the only place to get work is shit like Upwork where it's a race to the bottom against third-worlders who charge peanuts for stolen clipart to clients who are actually satisfied with it.

>>296004
I don't expect $5000 for a logo, I expect money for a logo, and it just doesn't happen. The $5000 figure came from Chris Do's "things I wish I knew when starting out in logo design" video where he berates a guy who was just starting out for charging $50 for a logo, and his only advice was "charge more lol/find clients who need a $5000 logo lol/etc".
>>
>>295972
Wouldn't that only apply to shit designers though? If your better then others, you'll prove your worth. A market getting tougher and more aggravating doesn't mean it's dying.
>>
>>296012
I'm in the same position, a third world country where nobody even considers design as anything relevant. And in all honesty I sometimes agree. It's only meant for well established capitalistic companies from highly developed countries, backed up by investors with millions of dollars.
And that's all the advice you're going to get from lucky rich kids of the US metropolises.
I should have studied CS instead and by now I'd be hired by some diversity-meme company that hires stinky immigrants like me.

Does a 7 years old's lemonade stand need a real designer or a Fiverr logo?
Does a YouTuber need a real designer or a Fiverr logo?
Does a Twitch whore need a designer or a Fiverr logo?
Does Rick Harrison's pawn shop need a designer or a FIverr logo?
>B-b-but a lemonade stand doesn't make enough money, so it doesn't need a logo.
What about >$100k/yr streamers and attention whores?
>>
What the fuck is up with all the jpg as the delivery format for logo design.
>>
>>296330
Ask Pajeet.
>>
>>296333
Your """"handcrafted"""" logo will be stock vector graphics with the watermark shopped out, makes sense to keep it a JPG.
>>
>>296330

Because the person offering the job has no fucking idea what to do with a .AI or .EPS.
>>
>>296330
Because on Fiverr if you want to the eps/ai file too, you have to pay more than $5. Something around $10. Oh, and in case you want to know, a designer on Fiverr only gets $3 out of it because $1 goes to the headquarters in Tel Aviv and $1 to PayPal.
>>
As long as you're in it for the right reasons, and that's literally just to make a couple of quick bucks. If you're selling logos or banners or whatever for $5, you better be doing them fast. I used to be a top seller on fiverr and made some pretty good cash (around $2000) over the course of like 6 months, it's obviously not a lot for that amount of time but when you know why you're doing it then you should be fine. Don't expect to live off of it unless you're a fiverr god. The fiverr market is extremely oversaturated now anyway so it's even harder to get exposure on there, not worth it for the long run.
>>
I've been checking it out. It's much better than I thought. The $5 is usually just the first package you can add additional charges and packages as you add features. Honestly I think this the best way to start freelancing if you're new. You can easily send anyone to your fiverr deal and have them accept and pay quickly.

this is for people who live in bangladesh or some shit, who download templates play the copy paste logo from cheap cunts and render wrangler game.

I had a look at this site and it looks like it's okay to make a bit of pocket money but the real clients with real money to pay you won't be browsing this site.

tfw used to be a top seller on fiverr and one of the firsts but quit for a year and lost my spot on the search page
>>
Not related to gd but, I used to translate documents on Fiverr as I'm bilingual. I would make roughly 100 USD a week. It took all my time and I would make better money at McDonalds.
>>
>>295863
Unless you got in years ago or manage to offer something nobody else does, you probably won't make shit.

I got a few gigs just shitting out low quality logos like everybody else. The majority of big people on there don't even design their own stuff, just download some psds and change some text and get retarded gigs just because they started early.
