Thoughts?

Plz upload pngs. What are you trying to accomplish with the logo? Imo it's too overly specific to make other versions and for other people to recreate. What is it for? Personal use? Though I like the eye pleasing shapes that go along the sides and other shapes.

Its the logo of the affinity suite. I asked for thoughts on the programs.
Is it out yet?
I tried Affinity designer for a while, it was good but there were just some features missing I couldn't work without.
I also can't remember what they were.

10/10 would buy Affinity Designer again. For $80 you get a replacement for adobe Illustrator, but better. This software is just amazing considering it's price point. No subscription fees, just buy once and you have it forever. My favourite aspect of Designer is how easy it is to use. It's more user friendly than Photoshop and Illustrator. And if you are used to Photoshop ad Illustrator, this software is extremely easy to get on board with. I didn't even need to look up tutorials on how to use it. It's just that easy.
I'm on a Mac, so I can't say anything about the windows version of this software. But I'm glad Serf decided to release it on both platforms in the long run (Because Mac exclusive software not made by apple is fucking retarded.)
Another plus with Designer is it can open up PSD files. You can actually go through the layers as if you were working with Photoshop too when you open up a PSD. It's fucking insane! Again, all this for $80. Can't go wrong.

>lmao thought it was a logo critique
its ok, its almost photoshop not quite, if you need industry standard/are freelancing for legit companies deff just get adobe, if youre just fucking around get affinity,
It's a lean mean nimble piece of software that can actually shake the giants.
Insane potential. The competition is playing catch-up at last and rightfully so – Adobe has been sitting on their ass since CC.
Wait for Photo 3 and things are gonna look pretty interesting.

Designer's vector brushes are amazing.
Windows version wasn't too buggy

It can actually be better than Illustrator in some aspects. For example creating a cog in AI is fucking complicated. In designer you have a custom tool called "cog" but if you use the symbols tool you can also create whatever shape you want and have it sync'd along a radial axis, thus you can create a cog or any fucking mandala you like :P I think it has so much potential and I don't regret buying it, but It still needs some work (the text tool is slow as fuck, and selecting a font is a mess, for instance)

> tried the beta
> holy shit a seriosus competitor to adobe
> holy shit it's actually affordable
> holy shit it opens up PSD/AI without a problem
> holy shit the devs are supportive and in touch with the community
> holy shit it has fluid design layout
> holy shit I don't need two programs for bitmap and vector manipulation
bought it day one
very happy with it and although it has some minor quirks I think it's overall a fantastic piece of software
Affinity Designer gives me the ease of vector manipulation that I wish AI had plus enough bitmap capabilities to fit my real world cases (I was worried I might need Affinity Photo for bitmaps)
As someone who has been using PS/Ai for a decade I would suggest every designer out there gives the demo/beta a try. It might just surprise them.
Disclaimer: I haven't used this on a major project yet so my opinion might change then, but based on days of playing with it this seems like a winner.

in addition to that
I hope they won't go the webstorm/adobe route at some point where you have a subscription model
I'd rather pay $50-$100 every few years if there are enough features/improvments in the new version than have a subscription model and get milked every month

I tried for an hour or so, it was enjoyable but I have to agree the lack of a blend tool is a big nope. I didn't know they also haven't the offset path..
Ps. Illustrator can get a bunch of unnecessary nods too when you expand something or use pathfinder..
Oh speaking of pathfinder, so far the award goes for Sketch , i found it incredible, the path finder is non destrutive for example if you merged a square and a circle and then you need to move the circle a bit you can do that without having to ctrl+z or creating the shapes again

I REALLY REALLY REALLY wanted Affinity to be my Adobe killer.
But unfortunately it has no blend tool, no offset path tool, for me this is a deal breaker.
And if you convert your path to outlines it's dirty as fuck, bumpy with all these extra nodes.
Those issues are jut too big for me to overlook, I can't make pieces like >>289775 or pic related without blend and offset path, if they resolved those issues I'd jump on it, until then it's back to CorelDraw.

Also, on top of all that, I was researching if there WAS a blend tool and all I found was an Affinty forum thread where the devs were adamantly defending their choice to cut the blend tool.
It comes down to this, Affinty works if your design focus is photoshoppy and web based, but if you are all about lines and delineation, it falls short in its current form.
