So I've agreed to design and set up a website for my friend's band. They've agreed to pay me a flat rate and also pay all the expenses. How exactly do I go about setting up the host and and domain using their money? Do I need to get them to pay me first and buy everything using my accounts? Do I need them to somehow pay for it on their own accounts? I'd also want to set up automatic payments to the host from them to keep everything running automatically since they're going to be pretty hands off.

I understand betting paid and everything, it's just turning over accounts with my bank account info attached to them I don't get. I've used ipage before and they don't let you save payment fields as empty.

Use waveapps.com to collect the money

You can either:
1) Use your own credit card to set-up the hosting/domain and charge them yearly, sending them the bill at least a month before renewal, with a markup of at least ten percent.
2) Charge them a flat fee to set-up their hosting/domain using their credit card info.
Best of luck, you're gonna need it.

Jesus.
Okay so first just use a squarespace account. Sounds like you will need this to be as easy as possible for you.
You say look, this is how much this costs per year. I can either pay for it and bill you for it montly or yearly, or you can use your own payment details.

Yeah this, but you could do GoDaddy or whatever. A domain is like $12 per year and then it sounds like you just need the most basic hosting. So you tell them that, say "You need to go to GoDaddy and buy the domain you want and then buy whatever hosting you want. Once you have all that in place, give me the login info and I'll dump my load in there." (Use exactly literally those words)
