yup
is it always you who kept posting variations of this?

just grab a blank sheet of paper and do something completely different - from scratch

do at least three
put them aside for a day or two, and break out your same rote format

>>264075
Have you tried making it look more like an M? I get that you're going for the implied shape, but maybe just a bit less implication would make it more unique.

Here's mine that I've been playing with. I only just decided to start doing some freelance work. Looking for a harsh critique

I posted my old logo a couple of weeks ago
>>256317
If that's what you mean, have not posted any variations of this logo before though.

But I know how to design a logo, I usually sketch 15-20 variations of a logo before going forward, I just don't have time at the moment.

Was going to take time off, at the time I posted the first image, to rebrand myself completely from scratch, but I got too much work lined up. Will probably do that at the end of summer when it dies down. The above image was part of my first spur of ideas that came out of trying to incorporate the 3D side of my business with the graphic design side.

Appriciate the critique though, good to know I made the right choice in scrapping the idea. Will probably be back with the new concept showing it off to get some feedback once I get time off in the summer.

>>264156
Thanks for the feedback, and will take that into account once I restart the project.
And right back at you I don't really like the font. I would play around with it and maybe even go for a serif-font.

The mark shows real problems in the way you've used the pentool. Pic related.

Makes me think of a heart or brain, possibly both.

This is my personal logo. I went with orange-yellow because I like that it represents the month that I was born (October) and black to create a contrast. bruh, when making a design, you MUST understand that you are what others think about you.

What concept do you want to transmit?
What idea you want to transmit?

From that logo, the ideas you transmit (to me) are:

>teenager learning how to use Flash
>wants to make silly animations to post on newgrounds
>you like funny things

and that's it, you don't look like a professional i would hire to make designs to my organization.

study more, pratice more, true advices.

well it's true that I lack professionalism, I mean for 6 years I've been trying to finish my college desktop publishing course (which is normally a 3 years course) I just kept failing and failing course but now I'm nearly done. I must work on my personal Web portfolio. I much prefer my old logo. What it represents is my interest into illustration, why a sheep? Because it's like the black sheep, the shy lonely type, but I've never been good at explaining why I choose a specific colour. I lack confidence when I start a project and I find it hard to get past the "blank page" syndrome.

My own self brand. The letters are my initials. Be honest, see if you can work out all of the individual letters as well. Also does it sell well for a designer who works strongly with type? It's basic, I've had some people love it and others say it's too simple and more like something a blogger would do, but they weren't designers or clients. Also the mugshot is not me, just a google image to show an application example.

In fairness I was just looking at some i-D stuff so it was fresh in my mind. I think the yellow on the guy's face is just too close, the logo itself could probably work with a bit of tweaking. Some constructive criticism: it looks a bit off because the different elements are different thicknesses, if you change that it would be an improvement

I love your stucture and thought, but I'm not thrilled by it. I feel like it could be because the left eye is the one blinking, but that could just be a personal bias.

I do think you should blur your face out more on the image overlay. I'm drown more to your eye than the logo. If your skills are good, it could be cool to turn your face feature-less and overlay the logo on that. Could help you hook by hitting that uncanny.

I'd like some advice, please. I'd like to create a personal logo based off of just my initials, but I'm not happy with any of the idea's I've put to paper.

My initials are BB, but anything I've tried turns out pretty meme tier. Either two mirrored Bs, trying to merge them somehow, or pretty much anything hasn't really worked out.

Creative advice would be much appreciated!

stroke/break between the offset "shadow" and the PUBLI Y LEO text is too thin, i'd make that a bit thicker. Might think about making the lining on the lion itself a bit thicker too. Also, was this made in paint? It kind of looks like it was on the crown with the uneven peaks and valleys. The bottom leg facing away should either be separated more or gotten rid of completely, it's too thin to be there. I'd flatten out the base myself, but I'd have to see how it looks before committing to the change.

Orange? There are a lot of hues, but orange isn't in there...

Also, a note about the colors: I'm trying (and to a large degree failing, perhaps) to represent Pirkei Avot 4:1, which can be found at
http://www.sefaria.org/Pirkei_Avot.4?lang=he-en&layout=heLeft&sidebarLang=all

The purple represents Honor, placed in a lofty part of the picture
The red represents Mightiness, supporting all else.
The yellow represents Riches (as in satisfaction with life), bridging these two things.
Blue represents Wisdom, the center of the image.
The grey is just for some sort of backdrop.

It seems like a helluva lot to cram into a logo, but this is MY logo, and it should speak to me every time I see it, really defining me, ideally.

Wat

Logo should speak to others first. I wouldn't try to make a reference to something unless you're 100% certain people will get it.

Of course you do what you want, but if you want something more professional-looking, I wouldn't go with 4 colors in 1 logo. Think what you'll do if you need to print it in black and white. It can also clash with other colors if put on a picture which makes it very tricky to use.

> Orange? There are a lot of hues, but orange isn't in there...

Yep, my bad. The thumbnail has tons of JPEG artifacts which make it look orange. Also I had my screen set to lowest brightness and it had a bit of a yellowish tint this way.

>>
>>266170
the g is not apparent. it look more like a power button. the main thing about a g is the horizontal line on the right. the line in the logo is neither horizontal not on the right. on top of the fact that its resting in the o making it seem even less like a g. i can see it but wouldnt have been able to had he not pointed it out.
>>

no problem, but a tip, don't "present" logos in circles like that or whatever, do up a nice background with a subtle pattern that matches your brand. i have a few repeating patterns that I use in presentations to keep everything looking uniform. as for this particular logo, i would have just made the logo itself the darker color for presentations sake.

It's not poorly done, it just seems poorly thought out. Hopefully you don't take that the wrong way.

don't use a defaut font for branding. you want something unique for a brand; a preinstalled font is quite the opposite
>>
>>266131
The idea is more or less interesting. But the execution is horrendous

First: How many colors does it have? Did you count? It's over 6 at least. They all clash with each other and look like assorted sheets of colored paper. If you think they make sense, try and tell from memory which side had which color.

Second: The pink-orange cube is lit from one side. The cyan cube is dark from this side for some reason. I barely realized if it was inset or outset.

Third: now look at those corners. Would be good if they aligned at least in any way. But instead they're just some random angles.

Fourth: what do these cubes have to do with you? Do they really reflect what you do well? They generally do say 'maybe it's graphic design', but what says that it belongs to you, not some other guy?

Finally: try to imagine it in black and white.
>>
>>266090
> Maybe I can have two, one for independent use and one for overlays.

You can of course do that.

Still, speaking about your color scheme, it reminds me of coats of arms some families have which make sense only to them and their closest friends/relatives. Like a deer and a compass, wtf is it supposed to mean? It's like some kind of cryptic code. To an average person, colors don't mean anything special, and no one else understands would understand any hidden meanings.

Also, a word about the colors: you could at least have some gradients or other more interesting transitions. On a technical level, it looks like it could have been drawn in Corel Draw in 1997. It's ok but showing off your skills as a designer a little never hurts.

This isn't simplicity though, the overuse colors and gradients are the opposite of that. None of these are good. Start over with a new concept. It can still be the ב, but just take it and simply stylize it. Write it yourself 300 times on a sheet of paper, scan that in and use that as a bse if you need to, but none of these are doing it. The colors are bad, they proportions are bad, any of them that have a stroke on them are bad and far too thin, looks like an afterthought, the shape itself isn't working. the skewed 3d look you're trying to pull off is coming across in the worst way imaginable. Drop that.

Just mess around with the interaction between the two letters a lot.

I disagree with every single point made here. I think every part of that logo works together and would immediately not if even one of those pieces of advice were followed. You'd have a far less readable mess of polygons that you couldn't distinguish from each other as a pair of blocks. It would probably just look like a crooked plaid pattern.

It's easily one of the strongest logos in this thread as it is.

So this is a work in process of my first personal logo. Making logos isn't really my forte so I would appreciate some feedback from you guys.

It's ALGO because my name is Alonso Gonzalez, plus "algo" means "something" or "some" in spanish so I can do stuff like "Algo de diseño" (some design) or "Algo de fotografia" (some photography).

I also used the fish (I hope it looks like a fish because some people say it doesn't) because I see myself as a fish outside of the water because I have a different style and stuff like that (hope that doesn't comes up as a too much of a special snowflake wannabe).

I'm going to add the colours and a little font that says "Alonso Gonzalez" bellow the logo later.

So anyway, whatcha guys think?
>>
>>266464
If you're dead set on the fish, first one in the 2nd row is best.

Overall though, they look a bit too busy. Go back in and reanalyze the necessary elements of the logo to eliminate the unnecessary.

Define your type, then work around it.
>>
>>266464
It's old school so to say, but I like it.

The "G" looks different from other letters though. You're using something like Avant Garde (see the pic), I'd suggest changing the G to look more this way.

For clarity: Its just supposed to be a pen stroke. Like what an inker does to add shading to some pencils.

The "letter" is supposed to be as incidental as a traingle is an "A" in someone else's logo.

i just made that recently in a little while from scratch because i like fucking around in photoshop and listening to podcasts. literally was looking for something to do in photoshop and came across this thread, so i went for it.

the name above the M was just random. yeah i should have worked better to make the M more dynamic and 'pop' out.

here's one i made when i actually was about 14 or 15. purple too, and i usually like red for everything but purple/indigo seems a little more neutral.

how is the actual shape of the M bad? i was kinda proud of having made it so 'off' with the angles but so consistent at the same time

it just look very childish, proud of a letter M with a different angle in the center, really?. here's a few principles that could help having in mind while sketching/making a logo.

• Keep it simple. The simplest solution is often the most effective. Why? Because a simple logo helps meet most of the other requirements of iconic design.
• Make it relevant. Any logo you design must be appropriate
for the business it identifi es. For example, as much as you might want to use a fun design that makes everyone smile, this approach is not ideal for businesses like the local crematorium.
• Incorporate tradition. Trends come and go like the wind. With brand identity, the last thing you want is to invest a signifi cant amount of your time and your client’s money in a design direction that looks dated almost overnight.
• Aim for distinction. Begin by focusing on a design that is recognizable. So recognizable, in fact, that just its shape or outline gives it away
• Commit to memory. Quite often, one quick glance is all the time you get to make an impression. You want your viewers’
experience to be such that your logo is remembered the instant they see it the next time.
• Think small. Your design should ideally work at a minimum of around one inch in size without loss of detail so that it can
be put to use for many different applications.
• Focus on one thing. Incorporate just one feature to help your designs stand out. That’s it. Just one. Not two, three, or four.

No concrete prototype yet but I'm working on a sticker design (Hackneyed promotional material, I know. Resources are limited.) for our nonprofit organization as we launch a new program targeting youth ages 8-14. We're educating young classrooms/sports teams/cyclists/quadders etc. on the modern epidemic of concussions/brain injuries from those activities. The stickers are going to be given out at the end of our presentations.

The concept I've been toying with includes a sticker geared towards each gender with a focus on the males (they're at more risk). It's an edgy skull in the center with its topside sawed off to reveal a portion of its brain, and a helmet over top. Wording reads "Don't get rekt.".

I can't decide whether it's a solid idea to get them to actually put the stickers on their shit or just an absolutely autistic and terrible idea.

Thoughts anyone?

Meant to be the initials CK, with the color of the circle inside changing to match application/context. I'm all for changing the style as necessary, this is just more for the shape and geometry itself.

Very nice colours and the font is nice but I have to agree, what does the hair have to do with anything?
>>
>>266906
Execution of the logo is good, but the idea is extremely unoriginal. The clutter around the logo doesn't help either. If you really wanna roll with the logo drop the brackets and the minus sign (?), they look absolutely horrible.

The logo would never let anyone know that it's about pet photography, more like some ad or healthcare agency at best. That's probably my biggest gripe with this logo.

The font is a bit boring too, but that's personal opinion. It is fitting for the photography business though, I guess.

>>266907
Same font, same story. Again, the execution is nice, but the idea is among the most uninspired I've ever seen.

>>266908
I feel like this style has been used a too much, but it's ok I guess.
>>
>>266912
That was my take on an abstract camera lol but yeah I see where you're coming from.

I happen to like the fire logo - it was my first time playing around with gradients to create form.

How do you feel like it has been used too much? What is "this style" exactly?
>>
>>266913
Right, I'm sorry for being so harsh on you.

The idea of a camera lens (while not very original maybe) isn't bad. It's not something you can easily see when looking at the logo, though. The body of the camera is also too different to feel connected to the lens. You might be able to make it work, but you'll have to make some changes!
Personally, I think the 4-colors thing has been used by all the big companies.. The colors work well together though.

I can see why you'd be proud of the flames, the form is nice and I like the gradient. I think having a flame as logo isn't very original though - it doesn't really stand out. Again, nice execution, though.

For the login mockup, I've seen it in a lot of apps. Logo at the top, blurred photo background, glassy buttons / text areas.. However, there's only so much you can do with a login screen. So, I think you did a good job.
>>

Of which one? The first or second draft?

In case you're not joking, why did you go ahead with an unchanged draft if you cared enough to ask for advice here?
>>
>>266853
Would you have any suggestions as to how to avoid that? I've tried replacing the central circle with other shapes and changing the hierarchy of layers to further break up the circle, but everything I've tried makes it lose its original intent.

I feel like I'm headed in the right direction with this idea, I'd rather see if I can't still make it work before scrapping it entirely and going to the drawing board again.
