Cost of living in the west is really not sustainable unless you're truly in the top 10% or so of human IQ. The poor and middle classes can no longer be supported with make-work projects. Ultimately they will have to accept a service role in the first world or move to the third world were cost of living is closer to their earning potential. This is the great sorting of the 21st century. The highest IQ peoples of the world immigrate to the first world, everyone else matriculates out.

It's all part of the inevitable tech revolution we started the last century. In a way it's kind of beautiful. Race and gender are being totally transcended and merit is, at last, the prime sorting factor for who belongs where.
