No, the botnet was already in full force by the time 7 came around. XP is just 2k with an MS backdoor, a fisher price theme, and bloat from ME. 2k is the last version of Windows that focused purely on being productive and not pandering to retards.

No, Windows 10 is the best version of Windows.
>>
It's hard to take Windows users seriously when they declare X version to be the best because they seem to flip-flop on their opinions all the time. Go back a few years and everyone was saying XP was the best version, but now I guess 7 is the best version? Or is it 8.1? Hell, there's even Vista nostalgia threads now. I have no doubt in my mind that another few years from now everyone will be hailing 10 as the peak of Windows.
>>
>>62467181
>Vivaldi
I use it because Opera and Chrome eats my RAM a lot. Vivaldi consumes a lot less of my RAM, resulting no instances of browser crashing everytime. Not only that, I really love how it can be heavily customized.

>Windows Media Player
You're doing pretty good at ignoring the rest of my task bar to the right. I have Winamp and MPC-HC and use them instead, mind you. I'm not sure why you're focusing at the Windows Media Player, considering that thing always comes with Windows, no matter in what type of OS.

>1360x768
I don't really care. This resolution right here is enough to be big and let me see things clear. I care more on FPS over resolution.

You are fake news
https://www.neowin.net/news/microsoft-admits-to-gaming-performance-issues-in-windows-10-creators-update

Battlefield 1 ran at 25fps at 1080p on low on Windows 10 CU. It ran at 60fps on Ultra 1440p on Windows 7. This "Windows as a service" meme needs to die, they need to actually test Windows before they push updates out.

9x was awful, it held back desktop computing for almost 10 years as MS killed superior products with their aggressive marketing and anti-competitive behavior. Daily crashes were an expected part of using 95/98 and you would have to plan your work around them, 9x was fundamentally flawed and nobody who had to interact with them on a daily basis as an adult ever wants to see them again. I don't give a shit how little RAM it uses, it doesn't use much because it doesn't do anything.

>>
>>62467595
Windows as a service doesn't contradict QA.
What's actually happening is a couple of things:
> not paying for actual thorough QA with annual dev length (the feedback hub and shit is nice but there are WAY too many normies running fast rings and then flooding the hub with "LAG LAG LAG MUH GAME LAG I LOST MY DATA" that shit ain't beneficial)
> microsoft is pushing for two milestone updates per year instead of just one major update + monthly security
> way too many rings, stable and beta should be the only public facing ones (excluding enterprise /cbb) everything else internal testing

Oh and they should drop the "creators update" meme already. Shit's annoying.
>>
>>62468673
By being normie they are not obsessed with botnet and other autistic shit like the average /g/tard.
>>
>>62468655
Complaints after complaints actually.
>>62468673
Anyways the problem with windows that pops its ugly head after every release is the simple fact that it gave normie users way too much leeway. By default, mind you. On macOS this isn't the case, neither is chromeOS which makes them much better suited for the general public. Well now the 10S too I guess but the windows store is still pretty lacking I feel.
So every update, people rush out and start complaining when in reality they just need to do some basic cleaning. You'd be surprised at how many normies got themselves into piracy and shit, but haven't done anything to actually safeguard themselves. It's a mess.
>>
>>62468711
I'm referencing the reaction non-technical people had with Windows Vista, they all said it was terrible, so much so that it lead Microsoft to run a test where they renamed Vista and compared people's opinions, people had different opinions of Vista and "Mojave" which is off when you consider they were the same OS.

Normies parrot whatever they hear.
>>
>>62466901
We can't agree but it's the objective choice.
>>
>>62468709
If you don't want normie-tier useless feedback, don't use normies as beta testers.

>>62468795
That's a fair point but I used Windows 10 for half a year before reverting to 7, you can't argue I didn't give it a fair shake.
>>
>>62468843
Right, which is why it has to be closed off. Even though it's an opt-in system which literally claims the rings are for testing and are unstable, normies STILL opt in thinking it means exclusive access to things first. It's absolutely insane.
>>
Even vista is better than windows 7. At least vista didn't mess up permissions and had functional environmental variables. Windows XP is the best Windows
>>
>>62468859
Normies don't need anything more recent than a long term support branch. Microsoft walling the LTSB to enterprise and embedded customers was their stupidest mistake with 10.

>Take the 2017 LTSB
>Replace whatever they're calling the new dwm with Aero Glass
>Market it as Windows 10 Professional Classic or whatever
>Play up the privacy and stability benefits
>Sell it to normies
wow I fucking fixed it this was so hard

As a guy who clung to 7 for the longest time and used to screech autistically whenever 10 was mentioned, I jumped ship less than a year ago to preserve my licenses, and there is pretty much nothing wrong with 10 if you take ten minutes to config it after installing.
Everything people whine about on /g/ on a daily basis can be usually disabled or adjusted in under a minute.

meh, I'm using Win7 on my HTPC only because the WinFagDevs abandoned Windows Media Center.

There's a hacked up version of WMC that somewhat works on Win10, but it breaks after every update, so it aint worth it.

Windows Media Center, even though it hasn't been updated in 8 years, is still the absolute best cable tuner DVR program out there.

There are some alternatives, but they're all shit, and the Linux programs are fucking outright embarrassingly laughable (looking at you MythTV). Seriously, the Linux community never even should have attempted their hand at developing a DVR program, because they made themselves look so amateurishly pathetic compared to proprietary developers.

At this point, I don't think there will ever be a true contender for Windows Media Center.
>>
>>62471534
Have you tried emby? It's a resource hog though and I think they put any dvr stuff behind their premium plans.
But anyways, media center was way ahead of its time. media player is still the most lightweight player on any windows platform.
>>
>>62471619
Please, don't mention Emby or Kodi, shit still makes me shiver with disgust.

Nothing, NOTHING compares to the ease, compatibility, stability, and features of Windows Media Center on Windows 7 Ultimate Edition.
>>
>>62471653
I know how you feel. Plex only just got dvr capabilities a month ago, media portal is a mess, and I'm sitting here wondering why windows ever decided to ditch media center at fucking all.
>>
>>62471125
>bby
you're such a slut anon
>>
>>62471714
It's almost impossible for the small companies like Plex to get DVR capabilities, especially for recording live encrypted content. They simply don't have the money or following to get proper licensing.

Microsoft was the only company that had the tech, expertise, and money to create a DVR program that can record cable and TV shows.

I can only assume they abandoned WMC to try and get people to buy their Xboner console.

Thankfully, or sadly, though, TV is pure arse these days, so no desire to record anything.
