So, openbox users, how are we gonna deal with Wayland? As fas as I know there is no good substitute for a simple but efficient floating WM like openbox on Wayland.
Are you gonna stay on X or change to GNOME or KDE?

Sup openboxfags, what taskbars you prefer?
>try out gnome on wayland
>push to talk doesn't work in any VOIP
>literally impossible in the design of wayland
>devs tell you to implement it in the compositor
what the fuck is wrong with these people? are you fucking serious?

most of them are abondoned or broken.

Canonical is gonna make it work. I think that in a year it will be a standart for most distros

tint2, but probably going to switch to lemon when I have the time.

Is that a music player in the bottom left and if so, which one is it? Your desktop looks cute.
>>62458729
I don't use one at all. Just middle - click on a desktop to get a list of running applications.
>>62458811
I use mpv, just not for music, are you using any album scripts?

>he doesn't have a discord client integrated into his display server
weak

>mirrored hair on illya
this triggers me

>playlists? too much bloat for me. i simply create folders and symlink the songs into it
next level autism. impressive.

I always figured they would implement something like Android has, where it will prompt you with a permissions request. "Allow this application to access your files?" or it will show you its permissions on installation and approve it for that process. They will have to implement something like that.
The only way it will work currently across DE's is if Gnome standardizes something like that/forces everyone to use their DE.

seems ridiculous to me, since it's an already well established aspect of desktop operating systems to have 'global hotkeys', and we DO in X
>>62458636
GNOME has moved to wayland already.
I think Sway and Way-cooler (https://github.com/way-cooler/way-cooler) is compatible with wayland
>>62458636
There is no reason to go from X.

b/c patents https://www.google.com/patents/US8265595
>>62459017
Sway is i3 made for Wayland so I guess it is compatible
>>62459311
It's not always on mobile devices and it's open source my bro
>>62458636
Wayland will never be anything else but an extra layer of shit on top of X with it's Xwayland compatibility layer.
>>62458636
What terminal is that?
>>62458636
Wayland won't be a proper X replacement for at least five more years anyway.
>>62458636
where is the problem, isn't openbox open source, isn't that freedom to modify code when needed what it's all about. enjoy your freetard trash that breaks every api every 6 months.
>>62458636
Stay on X
>>62458729
None.
Back when I used Gnome 3 I got used to using keyboard shortcuts since opening the activities would make Gnome bloat. Eventually I got tired of the way window switching worked on gnome and switched to openbox once I set up the volume keybinds.

I fucking wish. X has been there for 20 years.
>>62462047
