What is the best distro Linux? (No Gentoo, please).
Gentoo, unironically
clover os :^)
Best for what?

I had a shit processor, it's not cool wait 30 min to compile a thing.

Programming, watch movies, study.
>>62446522
You can do that on any linux distro.
>>62446504
Do you have a second, strong computer? Congrats, you can use distcc to compile shit on it for your shit processor device. Do you have a VPS? Congrats, you can make your own binary packages there. Official guides are on the wiki.
>>62446533
Which one is best for it?
>>62446543
You need to tell us details of your computer.
Have only tried ubuntu and arch. I like the latter one more
Don't spoonfeed this faggot

The programs you can use for text editing, compiling, watching movies and reading pdfs, and pretty much any other software are the same on all linux distros. The main difference is the package manager, how the distro is installed and updated, if it has preconfigured software or not. Beyond that you can pretty much configure any distro into anything you want. It's not a question of "which is better", but which one suits you the most.
Anything that uses systemd by default
install gentoo
Parabola GNU/Linux-libre

If you hate compile times, but still want lightweight and customizability, Arch Linux.
If properly configured it ends up stable, fast and practical.

Works on any computer, good compatibility and looks nice. It's lightweight and no frills yet looks nice.

Yep, I wasn't suggesting it takes a genius or something. It doesn't. Yet somehow there seem to be a lot of total retards that can't handle Arch and who literally can't follow simple text instructions.

>he doesn't use distcc
I have my makeopts set to -j40 on my thinkpad :).
give me one good reason why I shouldn't use Ubuntu Budgie right now

Any other resources I can try to follow? I'm trying to directly overwrite ubuntu if possible (dual booting with Win10)

The current installation guide is not as verbose as the beginners guide they had. Too bad they deleted it.

It's lighter weight than, e.g., xfce. Meanwhile it has significantly more features.
