USB-C is great and in 5 years or so this won't even matter because 99% of accessories and devices and whatnot will contact using it. Not to mention USB-C is pretty much just as good as USB type A except it's smaller and double reversible.
Don't even bother bringing up that webm of the one guy covered in hundreds of dongles because that's totally unrealistic. You're most likely only going to need one USB C hub like a HyperDrive; one little stick that has two standard USB ports, two USB C ports, one microSD slot, one standard SD slot AND an HMDI port. You don't need a seperate dongle for everything.

To this day, I do not understand who the target audience is for the iMac Pro.

They are obsessed with small form factor to the point of completely losing the vision on why a product line even exists. Size should be a non-factor in the Mac Pro line. It is supposed to be a way of using OSX with the most powerful hardware available. Upgradeability should be one of the top features in a Mac Pro.

Prior to the trash can reveal, I thought they were going to show us some kind of awesome enthusiast size tower with fancy trays and doors with room for all kinds of drives and big graphics cards. It was the first time I had the thought "Jobs would have never ever allowed this". That fucking trashcan marks the moment the ship had lost its course.

It would just be a shittier form factor destined to be always suboptimal, since literally all of the components you could choose from are rectangular and of different sizes, so with the same components you'll always end up with a bigger unit compared to a traditional case, and since man-made structures and furniture are also rectangular for the most part, it'll end up hogging even more space due to simple geometry.
