Worth upgrading to a M.2 SSD?

From what I hear, there will basically only be a marginal improvement to all tasks. Only thing you'll notice are stuff like photoshop and games loading quicker. Other than that not much.
Here's a quick guide on if you should
1. Can you afford it?
If yes, buy it. If you can't, save up for it.
2. Do you need it?
If you just want improvements and you can afford it, again, go for it.

it really depends on the workload you have.
120gb is small tho.

Just slapped in a 1tb 960 Evo this evening. I didn't realize that z97 boards don't have full PCIE x4 M.2 slots so it is only running around 800 read 800 wright. Still a noticeable improvement on the old 500gb 850 evo. It'll be nice to get my R7 1800x and C6H next month.

Depends on what you are doing but for general use and gaming i would recommend getting a bigger SATA SSD. NVMe really shines when editing (4K/8K) videos, but other than that it is wasted money imo.

>games loading quicker
It doesn't. Loading times are unaffected. The only differences I've noticed are in games like TF2 where there was a lag before certain audio effects and games like PUBG which seemed to be poor on disk usage.

You can get an adapter and run it in the PCIE slot.

Yeah, one is on the way actually, but it won't be here for a week.

You're wrong, games are loaded much faster on a SSD, it's one of the few advantages of putting games on a SSD.

there are some games that an SSD is basically required, Fallout 4 can take ages even off a 7200rpm HDD.

battlefield and gta are over a minute shaved off load times

He was talking about the m.2 vs a sata ssd.

I have both a 960 evo and a 850 evo and they both load the same.
