I just started school to get my CCNA certification. How hard is it to get a decent job once I get it?
I work with a couple guys that used to do networking that say I can get a 60k+/year job no problem once I get it, but the internet tells me CCNA means jack shit unless I have experience. Any of you fags have experience with jobhunting after getting your CCNA?

Certificates don't mean much. Employers look for work experience first, then degrees, then certificates last.
Everyone I know with a CCNA and nothing else is completely useless.
experience trumps everything

Certificates do mean much. Simeon with an MCSA or MCSE can easily get a good paying job doing monkey server work. Certs can get you through the door when everyone in IT has a degree. It shows employers you're serious about IT as a career and not just something you majored in in college.

No it's experience first, then certificates, then finally degrees.
instead of degree vs cert bs why dont you retards actually post which one makes more statistically

Do people actually major in IT in college or are you talking about CS/CE?

You can't get hired in my company without a Bachelors
>>62420251
We don't hire technicians that don't have any experience. The pipeline for our new entry level hires are students doing internships at our company.

Elaborate please

I should elaborate more, it could be a Bachelors degree in literally anything, HR just needs to see that before we can schedule an interview.

if you have no experience take whatever you can get, do it for 1-2 years then look for a higher paying job, this isn't unique to IT

Is geek squad experience?
You're going to need some experience. Doesn't have to be anything drastic, just a year or two of basic IT. Go find a help desk job. A CCNA definitely gives you upward mobility.

Most companies I've seen nowadays accept equivalent work experience. Think very carefully before blowing 4 years and tens of thousands of dollars on a degree

IMO geek squad is a sales job with very little if any actual IT work. But other employers may see it differently

>tfw you neglected internships as a student and ruined your life
