I'll be a party pooper and suggest that if a keyboard isn't broken on arrival, it is very unlikely to break within 60 days or even one year. Thrice in a row (figures after the first or the second you won't even get the same model).

And I'm not sure what the big deal is with reprogramming the keyboard on the keyboard. Can you avoid picking he keyboard layout on Linux or Windows that way & what annoying problem does that solve?

> I knew it wouldn't be chintzy shit
Ah, we have somewhat established that there are a bunch of good chink shit keyboards, but I guess it's too late for that now.
>>
>>62417849
Aliexpress & gearbest has a bunch of cheap ones.

They'll tend to be smaller models, else shipping costs would be high. If you want bigger ones, maybe look locally, it might be cheaper.
>>
>>62415859
Go away.
>>
>>62418198
Well, in any case, most chink KBs have shitty keycaps and fonts, meaning I'd have to buy PBT keycaps. Even without keycap replacement most good chinese 60% are more than half the price. And how likely am I going to get system agnostic remapping of functions with those keyboards.

In any case the ikbc poker was on the infograph so if it's such a bad deal why is it on there?

Alright so since Amazon keep dicking me around I might just cancel and order the KZ ZS5's with goybest

What delivery option should I go for? Is DHL express worth it to get it within a week? I'm not very familiar with chinkshit lads
>>
>>62420109
Chinkshit is all about getting shit for cheap and long shipping times.
If you want your shit fast you gotta pay for it.
>>
>>62420150
Yeah it's £10, but that's not that bad considering everything on goybest is half the price it is elsewhere.
I can get the ZS5's, Bluetooth cable and DHL express for the same price I've ordered just the ZS5's for from Amazon

I was just wondering if I do pay for it they'd deliver promptly, or if it's just the same shit anyway and a waste of money. There's also the "insurance" option which is pretty cheap too, is that worth paying for?

>>
>>62420867
You don't find them on the chink sites because Btech is an American company. I included it because their radios are modified Baofeng radios.
https://baofengtech.com/uv-5x3
>Why UV-5X3 over UV-5R?
It's a tri-band radio. In addition to 2m and 70cm it supports 1.25m. The shitty part about it is that instead of a tri-band antenna they include a 2m/70cm dual-band antenna and a 1.25m antenna. Not that their stock antennas are good anyway but it's still dumb. Next I'm getting a Nagoya NA-320A so I can just throw it on my antenna mast and forget about it.

>>
>>62421687
Yeah, I've got my Technician license. I don't really have any resources for you other than this practice test site, I just took a few of those then took the real test. I'm still pretty new too, early on before I had my license I fucked my UV-5R's transmitter by nicking the ptt button when the antenna was off, so this UV-5X3's going to be my first chance to hit the local repeaters. Also if you haven't already done so, you should get a serial cable for your radio. It makes it much easier to configure your radio, and you get extra settings like naming your channels.

The magic of SPI. The TFT module has a framebuffer probably you can write to from the microcontroller, or tell it to read an image from the SD card. Check the documentation (it's probably a clone of a clone with 90% compatibility) and you can do anything.

Had a go of a Mi6 in a Xiaomi store today with the intention of going back in a few weeks if I liked it and it was much, much smaller than I thought. Not sure if it's really a massive improvement over my OP2 considering the money. I think owning a OP 2 for almost 2 years has made my expectations too high for a phone today. All I really want in a phone is mobile payments, a screen that is 5.5" at 1080p+, and good 1st party and 3rd party support. What really didn't impress me was that the back was coming off of one of the display models. The top left corner had come away from the phone it's self and if I pulled at it, the glue/tape started to break and it would come away even more.

I'll probably go back to the shop because it's in a massive shopping centre and have another play around with it and make a decision. I don't think I'll buy it from there because they had a sign at the till saying "no refunds" in Chinese, English, Japanese, Korean, and Russian (really trying to push the point across). If I do decide to get one, I'll buy it from HK Goldway when I'm back in the UK so I at least have a chance of returning it if it's DOA. Saying that, the Mi7 is probably coming out before I go back to the UK so that's another option.

I had a quick go of the Mi Mix 2, but I instantly decided I didn't like it because it just looks ugly. Also had a quick go of the Mi Max 2 but that is HUGE. I can't remember what the other phones were.

On a related topic, I didn't realise how much shit Xiaomi actually made. You can get everything from Phones and TV's to rice cookers and water purifiers in the shop. They even had shit like a knockoff xiaomi branded lego set and two e-bikes.

MIUI while not terrible on face value is a pain in the ass to deal with for that reason.
There is very likely settings to make apps behave properly but they're burried and you need to enable each specific app running in the background from two different menus.

The best solution is to just install Lineage or other custom rom.
This also fixed bluetooth audio for me, which had issues reconnecting to my car stereo when I sued MIUI.
My battery life is also better, despite background apps being allowed.

Okay, I see it matters less now which brand you get in terms of price / performance. Samsung and so on are also priced pretty normally again. Bascially, just get any of the ones I mentioned before. 3Ah at 3.7V will be enough.

You could get the >3Ah ones, but... diminishing returns, eh. And depending on the power board and LED you're getting in in the Convoy, you're already >24h of light on medium never mind low mode.

Actually they usually credit the other brand too if they had something to do with the engineering of a product. Xiaomi Ninebot, Xiaomi Wiha, ... stuff like that.

And I personally buy that shit 'cause it's usually great.

> sounds to me like the plotline to Homefront: The Revolution
I don't get your point there. It's a shitty game.

>>
>>62428066
>I don't get your point there. It's a shitty game.
It's a okay game and the story to that game is that a NK company started killing everyone in the tech sector, making anything from phones to guns and because they were so good and cheap everyone bought them and the entire US army couldn't protect itself because most of their gear was by that company and was backdoored. Yea, I know that plot line, I did play the game. To me it is just a series of face palms.

General burger feeling of being threatened by China selling finished goods and buying raw materials, not just the other way around?

Seems to happen every god damn time. If Airbus has a bit of succcess, it also starts drama in the USA over Boeing not owning the world's aircraft industry anymore. And so on.

I'd say get over it and just get the products that you want, but you're ultimately free to do what you want. The smartphones are doing ~the same as everyone else's smartphjones, too.

Not that I think every "smart" Xiaomeme product actually needed its internet connectivity, but that's not a trend that Xiaomi started by any means, it's pretty much every major consumer electronics company plus Google & friends that do that.

> It's really a retarded comparison but I just feel off by their products.

>General burger feeling of being threatened by China selling finished goods and buying raw materials, not just the other way around?
I just said I'm European. I don't have anything against China, just Xiaomi makes me feel a bit wrong, and that really restrictive ROM is real shit too.

Yep. Easily as many variants as wine. Personally I ultimately ended up liking pretty plebestrian Red / Green / Black (+Earl Grey) / White tea best, I think it often was from Fujian.

Pu-Erh was mostly not my thing, even among heicha (post-fermented dark teas), regardless if ripened or not.

I guess I can't change how you feel, but many other companies have done this branching out into other sectors or promotion of other companies' products under their brand - thing before.

Not seeing how this is particularly bad in this case. Xiaomi seems to enforce high quality standards & prices on these luxury products are mostly only relatively high by Chinese standards (if even that, the air purifier and such things are actually pretty cheap for non-shit devices in general). So that's typically great for us as consumers.

> that really restrictive ROM
Eh, how is it "really restrictive"?

It has a lot of features including a file manager and various generic data exchange methods (also many that don't go over some xiaomeme cloud) by default.

You can even get root on the stock Chinese dev rom (on the global one they basically expect you to deploy SuperSU).

General burger influence (including video games and what not) + internet hysteria got you. You almost certainly didn't develop this general feeling of being afraid of China on your own.

You're not scared of Samsung or Sony, right? Samsung makes smart fridges and smart washing machines and what not though. Plus Smartphones. And well, Sony is also extremely diverse.

>>62428878
>>62428887
Oolongs vary greatly too (can be quite fruity or quite nutty and such), but they generally don't have much compost-like taste notes that most people here don't like.

They're generally teas I'd expect most people will not refuse. YMMV if that's your favourite kind of tea, most of them aren't quite strong enough in taste for me without cream or milk.

Still cheaper than the iPhone X

Any coupon for bm-800 on Gearbest?

Just gotta make sure to buy unflavored stuff, the flavored stuff usually smells nice but actually tastes like shit by comparison.

is the Gearbest one the Chinese or Global edition?

What's a good cheap ups? Really just need it for a small server that uses around 20w-50w
>>
>>62429024
I suppose you have a point but the Chinese are rather hostile to the west while Japan and South Korea are not, so it's not entirely comparable.
>>
>>62427349
I have those. They're not comfortable. Theyre also very narrow and haev wide gaps in the sides of them. Not good at all but they are cheap height boosts that might help you smash

what other gear would I need to be able to use a BM-800 on my PC?

Yup. Bought some supreme organic or w/e and it tastes as strong as it smells.

"supreme organic" my ass, it's supposed to be lightly milk flavored if at all, with more a floral flavor and milky mouthfeel.

An audio interface with 48v phantom power like a cheap behringer + xlr cable, or less ideal - a phantom power supply. And some sort of stand.

It's not supposed to taste strongly of milk, if much at all. If it's a strong milk taste you're getting chink'd.

Recieved a case with glass for my galaxy note 5 today. The plastic to retain the phone seems pretty cheap, but I wasn't expecting anything amazing.

This is the first time I got a knot with an order, how common of a practice is it?

Right now I'm drinking puer so it's hard for me to remember taste of that oolong exactly. The smell is strong and after you brew it is still quite strong. The flavour is quite similar to anxi oolong I had but it also has this sweet/milky flavor. Can't remember anymore right now.
Anyway do you have any recommendation for black / puer tea?
Right now I'm looking at bailing gonfu. I looking for something with strong flavor.
>>
>>62425326
I have the blue one, I think its v7 or v5 not sure. It's okay, battery/remote resets due to drain pretty quickly and then the schedule is lost. Honestly not getting much use because it gets stuck on my cat's toys all the time.

Personally I love chinese blacks, first flush darjeelings, but golden nepalese tea is probably my favorite black, quite smooth despite being a full bodied black tea. Ceylon teas are also very strong from what I've tried, a bit harsh for my stomach to drink too often though.

As far as puerh, I'd say Yunnansourcing, white2tea, crimson lotus, and bitter leaf are good vendors as I said earlier in the thread, just try to find some reviews for cakes or buy some samples.
>>
>>62429434
It's the Chinese version flashed with the Global ROM, so the only difference is double the storage and no B20
