Why aren't you using FreeBSD as a desktop right now?
Not scared of the CLI, are you?

The real question (genuine question desu senpai) is why not use smartos or openindiana.

I've always loathed BSD package management. Its like they went put of their way to make it as unintuitive as possible.

There's also less hardware support than Linux. It just seems to be an alternative for the sake of being an alternative.

I had it on my Thinkpad for a while but there's a recurring bug with X and sleep and my ATI chip which eventually causes a hang, so I switched to Devuan.

CLI is for machines.
>>
>>62400883
None of my stuff supports it

Eh, I have no reason to use it over Linux today.
Nothing against the OS though.
>>
>>62400883
I prefer OS X. I use OpenBSD on my laptops though

I already have Solaris and HP-UX to keep me occupied when I want to be autistic.
>>62401003
I ran OI once on a system that didn't completely support Solaris 10, it was shittier in pretty much every way.
>>
>>62400883
It doesn't support my years-old hardware

Because Fedora has better packages, stability, and is just easier to use day to day. I've never had a single thing break and this system has been installed on my laptop for like 8 months now. FreeBSD is buggy because it tries to be a jack of all trades and fails miserably.

>Not scared of the CLI, are you?
I use text based applications like Midnight Commander, Bash, CMus, SSH, DNF, Nano, Vim, and others every single day. I still won't use FreeBSD though because it's just shitty.

>>62403462
If I had to choose a BSD variant to install it would definitely be OpenBSD. I actually ran it on one of my routers for a while but then I bought one with OpenWrt preinstalled and didn't bother to change it.
