Lumia 950 owner here. That's just about how it goes 9 out of 10 times. I have Windows Hello enabled but the iris recognition is fucking slow as shit most of the time, though sometimes it's just about instant somehow.
It's inconsistent and shitty, and I always just type in my PIN instead. Very rarely will the iris scanner do its thing before I finish typing my PIN.
