when will games use 8 cores CPU's and what improvements do really need them cores? videogames are pretty sophisticated today, get saturated by 4 cores and can be optimised for 6 cores. but 8 cores doesn't seem to bring any advantages except some buffer for other background applications. when will we see +100 player multiplayer games or other features that require heavy multithreading performance?
GAYMES XD
to an extent, yeah, but don't expect infinite scaling. 4c8t won't bottleneck anything and given how much time it already takes to develop games/engines/etc. it might not ever, but given how many cores gaymes already use, having 6-8 cores can't hurt for watching something on another monitor, etc.

Not as long as maintream intel CPU have 8 core

If Zen 2 turns out to be good as well, AMD can't really be ignored anymore, especially since Intel won't have much of an answer until what, 2020 or so?
>>62382300
2021, but even then it probably won't be that good, besides having tocompete with zen3 which will be on the market for almost an year by then, and whatever thing AMD will make to launch along DDR5
Gayming is GPU territory
Now fuck off to /v/
Some of them already do

There's only so much you can parallelize in game processes and most of it is already handled by the GPU. I don't think the add moar cores amd meme is never going to matter for games

Maybe once games will be build from the ground up on DX12/Vulkan.
You have DX12/Vulkan supported games nowadays but mostly theyre just lazy DX11 ports. Alot of those games actually lose performance in DX12 mode when that shouldnt even happen,
