What does /g/ think of Vivaldi? Is it a meme, or is it actually a good alternative to the Chrome botnet?

it's just another botnet. i mean, it's still closed source and all. how is it any better than chrome?
if you care about privacy, use firefox. or at least open source chromium without google stuff.

I like it, but i wouldn't mind a different browser closer to opera 12 than it is, but chances are we'll never get that again so it works.

https://vivaldi.com/source/
Source code is on their website
I tried it but it won't play stuff from Streamable or Twitch for me. Some GIFs don't work either.

that's just the chromium part of the source code. they have to release the changes they made to that.
they don't have to release the stuff they built on top of chromium (and they don't release it).

It's pretty fucking comfy, actually. Replaced my Firefox which I used since Firebird days.

It has nice UI customization but that's about it. Plus its proprietary
tried it several times. Love it except it has been so slow when I tried it last. takes forever to open a tab for example. Don't know how that's now.

I see no difference between Chrome or Vivaldi. They either improved a lot or it's cause by your computer.
Its shit
Fucker freezes on me more than anything else and sadly its still the best option since opera is dead

>Pro: Source code available
>Con: Source code availability is kinda-sorta and proprietary
>Pro: Blink's Javascript engine
>Con: Blink rendering engine
>Pro: Can move the fucking tab bar which no other browser except otter can do
>Con: The tab bar requires an extra 100 megs of memory to render because it's fucking javascript
>Pro: Made by the same team that did Opera 12
>Con: It's not Opera 12
It's okay. It still has the nasty habit of scrolling the page on it's own when minimizing images in a thread. I suppose I'm spoiled because Presto does everything fucking right.
