This, I used to use screen+irssi but switched tout tmux/weechat and it is very nice :)

ERC

I used Xchat, but it ran like shit, switched to Hexchat, which wasn't that great either. I started using ERC when I got into emacs, and I don't see the reason to look for other clients.
