I finally got my fist ever full time IT help desk job

Since doing help desk work is shit and I don't want to do it for too long, how should I go about figuring out what I should try to learn and what my next job should be? I already know I don't want to become a software dev or a programmer but I have no idea what sort of admin work is still going to be in demand in a few years other then cloud/virtualization, which is way over my head at the moment

What do?

What steps did you take to land this job? Sorry to respond to your question with another question but I'm trying to do the same thing as you, only I just entered the workforce.

spending six years working a shitty helpdesk (really just assigning tickets to engineers) job, getting the A+, getting an Associates in computer networking. It took me a long time and many failed interviews to land this job so I don't plan to leave it any time soon but I want to get a better idea of what my next move should be so I can start planning accordingly

18, just landed my first support job as a Comcast Remote Tech. IRC is what helped me. Most my jobs have been from people I know online. Spread yourself out if CS or something similar is the field you want to get into. Currently learning how to code Python and furthering my knowledge of Linux so I can move towars Linux SysAdmin later in life.

Came out a few years ago. Was plagued with QUALITY so I dropped it. No idea if it turned itself around and become better

What are your interest? Maybe base your job around that? Look for jobs that you'd like and see what requirements you don't meat and begin working on them.

How much does the job pay?
