You can barely use 100. I usually have 50-150 open, anything past 100 gets frequent crashes and extreme lag on my 4ghz quadcore with 16gb ram.

I often have more than 1000. I just don't want to lose what I found out on the internet but had no time to dig further or use right away. And as far as I know there's no convenient way to store them up somewhere to check on them later. Bookmarks don't work since I only use them for stuff I'm certain I'll need much, much later, or sites I go regularly. I could make a bookmark folder just for all those temporary tabs, but I would just forget about them if they're that hidden.

They start randomly crashing after 100 or so.
When you open it all the tabs from the previous season must load. If you have 150+ tabs open then there is a good chance that they will open on about:blank and you lose the season.
After 100 or so the icons disappear and at 150 or so it is actually difficult to even select them, the (x) button on the tabs becomes actually bigger than the tab.
