Looks like this thingy ain't gonna raise enough funds for production. It's kinda sad because I would really. Though, on the other hand, I do understand people who don't want to give money to a such long term project which has nothing but a few concept arts at the moment.

Did they try to promote their fundraiser or did they simply just start it, cross their fingers and hope people somehow run into it through chance? One of the reasons it's not doing so well is probably because not many people know about it. It's obvious that the FOSS community is terrible at marketing their products; many projects just set their product out there and do nothing else but hope that someone might find it and maybe it will catch on. At best they're way to passive when it comes to marketing and at worst they do no marketing at all.
It's on their own website and not on any of the crowdfunding websites so it's harder for people to run into it from serendipity, so they have to advertise their fundraiser to others.

Good idea but keep in mind it's an American company. Non-American RISC-V smartphones with open baseband firmware when.

What does that matter?

They made some threads on reddit and one of the devs was on the Landuke Show. Not can't do much without a good promotional budget.
But then again, Linus made only one thread and we all know how that turned out.

Only the OS. You know perfectly well that even CPUs have backdoors now. Or maybe you don't, but you do now.

How much does your freedom costs?
They are small and ethical company which doesn't use little Chinese children with bloody from tiresome work fingers to manufactur their product. Of course it is more expensive than your usual botnet but you must ask yourself one question - can you afford yourself an ignorance?
