Fry's a shit now. At least the one in Arlington, Texas. They had like a dozen video cards. Half the shit in their e-mail blitzkrieg campaign was nowhere to be found. Sad how low they have fallen.

>buying graphics cards at a FUCKING STORE
Are you FUCKING GAY?
>>
>>62339783

I didn't buy one, just commenting on how shitty the selection is. Also, they would price match Newegg or Amazon or whoever the fuck else you might compare them to, and you wouldn't have to wait a couple days for shipping.
>>
>>62339783
Some people live in the first world that can drive and go to a actual store to get there PC parts right away and return it the same day if its fucked. Seems rather nice desu.
>>
>>62339848
I'd agree with you if I lived in a state without sales tax
>>
>>62340283
I been there bro. They have gt 710s gt 730s and 1050ti's lmao.

I had been trying to buy an SSD from them since December. Always. Out. The employee was almost laughing at me when I asked why they were always sold out (half hour after opening). I finally had it, threw down my basket and yelled "FUCK!" Fry's is 20-25 miles from my home and requires that I take two over-capacity freeways to get there. It's a waste of time. I think they intentionally understock.
>>
>>62340831
>I think they intentionally understock
Because nobody shops there

Their highest grossing section is the car stereo area for niggers to get maximum buick bass
>>
>>62340849
Fry's is quite popular where I live because we don't have any other stores like them. I have no idea what the scam is but there is definitely something wrong.
>>
>>62340770
I do the opposite. Go up to reps, hand em the mobo or whatever, ask them to print out a quote ticket.

Free money for them. Feels good, man.
>>
>>62339783
I bought all my PC parts at a local store, best prices in Japan. Try not living in some 3rd world shithole.

Plano Frys is nice, but having microcenter down the highway a few miles is nice. You fucked in Arlington. That location is niggertown

There's literally no fucking reason to do this unless you're a gaming autist. Cryptomining faggots have no reason to either. The cons outweigh the pros.
>>
>>62339754

Yea I went to arlington a few weeks ago for a video card (pci express for slim business refurb)

Store is shit, it's ironic how it's changed since the late 90s

Employees are retards doing interrogations for walking on their turf on the way to the video card section

It's always been pretty terrible from my experience of houston stores. Microcenter is much better
>>
>>62339754
fellow dFW bro!

The one here has sucked for like a decade. Went there to build my college rig (circa 2010) and ended up having to newegg everything.
>>
The Fry's near me, the people selling the components literally know less than the people at Best buy. It's sad
>>
>>62342351
who cares, just research ahead of time and go straight to the relevant aisles and move on
>>
Fry's in City of Industry is the WORST. Horrible employees who give you attitude if you ask for a price match.

And if they DO price match, they will try to charge you shipping fee's and/or a markup to cover Amazon Prime membership fees.

Managers have even stated on yelp that they don't do that no more but they still do.

I've heard one of the employees tell a customer to just buy it on newegg if they want a price match. Sure, and when Fry's go bankrupt, you'll be out of a job and will never escape living in your mothers basement. Losers.
>>
>>62342431
Frys is a Kroger corporation. They treat electronics like a grocer would
>>
Live in Ohio, have a Microcenter nearby and it has lterally everything except AMD GPU's.. It's pretty nice knowing that I won't have to ship it if I need a return. (I don't trust buying stuff like monitors online)
>>
>>62342431
Forgot about that experience >>62340831
>find acceptable ssd on amazon
>go to fry's for price match
>2 left, not even on sale
>take to register and request price match
>it's not in the database
>somehow the same fucking drive has 2 different upc's
>mumble something, walk out of store, cashier wondering wtf happened
That was the last time I set foot in Fry's. Never again.
>>
>>62341058
they resell returned electronics as new. thats their scam.
>>
I bought a 960 Asus strix from that exact location about a year and a half ago. Never had a problem. Price was better than newegg by 5$.
>>
>>62342444
>Fry's Electronics was founded by the heirs of Charles Fry after Fry's Food & Drug Stores was sold. Despite having similar logos and a shared family heritage, there is no affiliation between Fry's Electronics and Fry's Food and Drug
>>
>>62342509
Never had that problem. I've always found such products clearly marked. Perhaps it's on a store-by-store basis? Not going to put it past them tho.
>>
>>62340770
Let the guy get his commission for fucks sake. It doesn't cost you anything. He asked if could help you. He's done his job even if you know what it is you want. He's not a shark. It's how his employer knows he's not just sitting on his ass and then you deprive him of even that. What a jackass you were to him.
>>
For people who get things other than consumer electronics, sadly, its the only place I know.
Need a quality meter, fry's carries fluke, need PCB components, fry's. Need some other odd ball electronic tool, fry's.
Want a GPU or some other consumer good, order it from somewhere the fuck else. They are the harbor freight of computers, the walmart of appliances, the virgin mobile of devices.

>>62341190

Yeah. I'm in Burleson, so Micro Center is about an hour each way. 15 minutes to Fry's.
>>
>>62340770

At the Arlington one, it's all Arabs and Nigerians. And goddamn, they want their commissions bad as shit. Had a guy go look in the back for a Panasonic 65" TV I was interested in, and during the few minutes he was gone, five other employees came up asking me if they could help me find something.

>>
>>62339754
the one out here is ass.

I remember on the 560ti 448 core release I went to a fry's to see if they had any, looked around couldn't find any on the shelves. Asked the dude who apparently was the manager for the pc area and asked if he had any of the evga 560ti's classified in store. his response was "What's evga? I never heard of that brand, I don't think we carry those sorry"

Went back and checked and found 2 hidden behind some shitty cards way in the back.

When I went to pay they charged me for the regular 560ti 448 instead of the classified version. Guess it's kiinda a good thing that they're idiots.
>>
>>62339848
I live in a relatively big city in Texas however it is full of beans, and although I am a bean myself I've seem to been blessed with a moderately intelligent mind, so naturally I've taken an interest in technology, before a few years ago all we had here was a tiger direct here which was shut down when they went online retail only, I really wish we had a Fry's or a Microcenter here, but there just isn't a demand because of the beans of course, it really sucks shopping at JewEgg and waiting 3-7 days only to find out the part is DOA and not having the convenience of returning it that same day for a replacement.
>>
>>62343447

We had a CompUSA like a mile away from Fry's that lasted about 8 months as a TigerDirect store before they shut it down. I liked making them price match Fry's and vice versa.
>>
>>62339754
Propane
>>
>>62343476

Same here compusa was barren, never went in when it was TD, now its closed. Think its like a party city now or something
>>
>>62340770
>>62341297
Oh shit, I go to Burbank as well.

The video card section is fucked right now, they've gotten so desperate that they've started putting the 1080Tis out on the shelves (instead of keeping them locked up in the back like before) just so it doesn't look so empty.
>>
>>62341389
Arlington is 6 hours away from Houston dude. It's basically in another state.
>>
>>62340283
>sales tax
I have to pay sales tax on nearly every major electronics store so prices end up about the same. Guess the law is working as intended.
>>
I don't know about other Fry's but I've been to the one in Vegas several times over DEFCONs and it's incredibly based. Better than most Micro Centers I've been in
>>
Built my first PC with parts from Frys 13 years ago. Fry's ads day was the best day every week.
>>
>>62339754
Dude, the one in Irving isn't too bad. But the other ones in Plano and Garland are complete aids.
>>
>>62341389
>Harvey
We barely even got any rain off of it, may as well bring up irma
>>
>>62339754
Just go to the Microcenter near the Galleria.
>>
Jesus shit, you guys bitch about everything it seems like. I love going into Fry's electronics just to browse around every now and then just to dick around. It's like going to Bass Pro Shops, you're probably not going to buy that stupid fucking St. Croix or G Loomis rod, but you'll look at it just because.

Used to do this all the time at CompUSA before that got destroyed.
>>
>>62343991
same.
unfortunately its 17 miles from where i live.
fortunately it's about 5 miles away from my job so i go there every once in a while after work on a Friday.
>>
>>62343991
>just to browse around every now and then just to dick around
most of us go to stores to buy something (or several things), and by that outrageous standard, fry's is almost always disappointing.

we don't really care if you stop by Fry's to window shop after you get your hair and nails done.
>>
>>62343060

lmao I've been to that very store a few times and I either get a nerdy white boy who actually helps or a minority who looks at me like I'm speaking japanese. mostly the latter
>>
>>62344171

kek
>>
>>62343991
Don't really go into Fry's unless I'm going to buy something. I do all my browsing at home when they send me an ad.
>>
>>62341190
This. My plano/Richardson niggas know what's up.

Garland Fry's is a ghostown btw. It's pretty fun to walk around in an empty Fry's though
>>
>>62341149
The best prices in Japan? So like double that of America? Cool dood
>>
>>62339754

>subscribed to Fry's email deals
>great deal on an 80" TV shows up
>call store
>"yup, it's in stock"
>drive to Plano fucking Texas to go buy it
>"oh, we don't have it"
>learn that the staff usually keep the really good deals in the back room and have family/friends buy it for them before they ever become available to customers

That's 75 miles of $3.29/gal premium unleaded fuel I wasted for the privilege. I really miss when Fry's used to be a great place to go get ideas (I'd never thought to hook my PC up to a 50"+ TV instead of a puny 27" monitor before Fry's in my younger years) but now the store is a mess, the staff have no idea what they're doing or what products they're selling... Really freaking sad.
>>
>>62344768
couldn't ask to put it on hold?
or just order it online?
>>
>>62344768

I didn't think to ask about them putting it on hold, but I wouldn't put it past them to have "accidentally" sold it before I arrived.

Great two more dumbfounded retards to explain why I'm the protagonist not them

The Store is a maze like a casino or Swedish furniture store and designed to confuse

I walk near the pc's looking for the pci component sections

Hounded by the salesman known as alex layko

He asks why r u here, we're watching you

I think.. well maybe I could use him to direct me to the component aisle then I'll ditch the tail and find the thing myself

I ask where's the pci cars? Pci low profile because I have a sff (small form factor) pc...

He plays dumb
Pci? What's that mean? What r u looking for..

I reply usb 3.0 and he gets excited to show me a nearby data cable as he explains it's blue on the intraconnector port

>I turn and run away getting tackled by security and backroomed (locked in the backroom) Where they hook me up to a lie detection system

Security doesn't buy my story That I'm there for a usb 3.0 internal adapter, they say it doesn't exist before planting a fraudulent price match printout that was siezed the week before and told me Never to return
