Are thre any alternatives to onenote?
>>
Google Keep.

You are welcome, friend.
>>
>>62309997
no anon.
nothing comes close to onenote.
>>
>>62309997
What does onenote even do?
>>
OneNote is bloated trash, but there's not much that matches its functionality. If you determine exactly what you need you should be able to find a less cancerous program to replace it.
>>
>>62310196
>What does onenote even do?
You can make grocery lists and jot down random thoughts.
>>
>>62310179
This.

>>62310205
It's definitely not trash. Also it's meant to cater to a lot of needs so it has to be "bloated".
>>
>>62309997
Evernote?
>>
>>62310249
My needs are a program that doesn't take hours to load and doesn't hang when selecting menus. It uses a monstrous amount of RAM and storage considering that it's just a program for typing and drawing some pictures while syncing them to Microsoft's botnet. I'd wager there are more than a few other people who think the same thing.

>>62310284
It seems to use less than 100 megs of ram on my machine. Also it loads on startup, and is probably prefetched, so it doesn't take hours to load. It's never hung up on me. What specs do you have?
>>
>>62310294
Added to the list of companies I am never touching ever.
>>
>>62310284
and doesnt require a botnet account to use it
>>
>>62310346
I've never logged into my live account to use office/onenote
>>
>>62310310
It starts off using little RAM but with a bunch of crap open it quickly gets out of hand. It's not going to kill me, I have enough memory, it's just the painfully slow GUI that makes it impossible for me to use. I'd say it's my shitty hard drive but other far more complicated programs like Photoshop run quicker and never stutter or make me wait.
I have an i5-3210M, 4GB RAM, and a 500GB 5400RPM hard drive.

Here is a comprehensive list of alternatives to OneNote. You can also filter by operating system and license type.

the 2016 one needs it
>>
>>62309997
emacs org mode or literally any text editor and some organizational skills
>>
>>62310366
Does anybody have any experience using any of these?

Normally I'd be upset over this and immediately find a replacement but I don't have anything worth keeping private in there so fuck it.
>>
>>62309997
Never used it.
Describe the tasks you want alternatives to rather than the application.
>>
>>62310362
get a ssd
>>
>>62309997
If you don't need all the features, there are tons.
Some note taking syncing apps even have encryption.

I'd rather kill myself than use some online/"cloud" service from fucking Microsoft.
>>
>>62309997
What is it for? Sounds like a note keeping app. In which case just use a text editor or a calendar on your phone, or word/writer.
>>
What exactly would I gain by using onenote over syncronising text files using ownCloud and then using something like qownnotes on PC and some random notes app on Android to manage them?
>>
>>62310366
Sad thing is that none of those application come close to what Onenote can do. None of those note taking thingies is able to use the editing area like a canvas which is really what makes onenote stand out.
Being able to move images and text freely around without any constraint and even draw all over the fucking note-area is what onenote does. None of the other tools do that.
I like alternativeto.net very much, but sometimes the recommendations are utter crap.

>>

Literally nothing in existence can even compare to it, it's just that good
>>
>>62309997
im not sure i understand the point of software like this
it seems much easier to just take notes on an actual notepad
>>
>>62309997
A notebook and paper
>>
>"why do you even need it?"

said people who have never been employed.

Once you're above "Junior" status at your dumb company maybe you'll understand that you need to organize your 700 pages of notes whilst keeping them easily editable and accessible.
>>
>>62314885
>manually flipping through 900 pages of nothes when you can just ctrl+f search

idiot
>>
>>62314885
>print screen
>paste
>ctrl+c
>ctrl+v
>pasting in excel sheets
>workflow sheets
>ability to share notes with co-workers

It's like the people who criticize this has never had a job before like >>62315822 said

Am I the only one who doesn't use the whole canvas feature?

Google keep's amazing for me so far,
Is there any way to use it on a windows 10 laptop?

>Onenote
How'd that work on 3 devices (desktop, laptop, android phone) and without a ms account?
>>
>>62316025

I don't understand purpose of this program
>>
>>62310157
This. Google keep is the only Google app worth having. You just have to assume with Google that every note goes into your dossier but Microsoft is doing that too. I use both though, used one note for a few years I think and have an ass ton of notes.

I don't know why but I love using Notepad.
Such a comfy, little program.
>>
>>62310196
Makes it easy to take notes (I.e.lecture notes, meeting notes, etc) in virtual notebooks. Basically just keeps everything organized and easy to access. Works well with an active stylus too if you're using it on Windows.
