How come my gt210 doesnt work with any modern linux distro except k*buntu?
>install debian
>blacks screen
>install ubuntu
>random letters and corrupted display
>install puppy linux
>black screen
>install new kubuntu
>black screen
>install my old kubuntu cd from 2010
>works bit with massive graphical glitching and lag
>spend weeks trying drivers and settings
>finally get it somewhat usable but still laggy
>have to restart my pc every other day because ot becomes slow like on windows
>realize it worked flawlessly on windows 7 but to lazy to download an iso
I've tried:
Debian, ubuntu,fedora,, mint and a whole host of other distros.
People shit on kubuntu but its the only thing that works.

maybe consider that your GPU is dying? I have that card in my little sister's computer and she was running Ubuntu MATE as her main OS for years until the disk died and I just installed windows 7.

In Linux most shit "works" for the most part without any user intervention, but open source drivers are still stupidly far behind compared to drivers you get on windows.
With my main desktop I installed ubuntu with an R9 380 and also was using intel hd 4600 on a separate monitor, screen tearing was horrible and could not arrange monitors without graphics corruption. Both Windows and Mac have no issue with this.
Go on my T420 and graphics just work on ubuntu with no screen tearing.

The free drivers are way behind on performance, features, etc. But they do almost always give you a working image on the display. If everything he tries is either giving him a black screen or corruption it's more likely he's just the owner of a dead GPU. Way back in the day I did the same thing to a GF4 Ti by not paying attention to anti-static stuff. Gave me weird graphical corruption, but was okay if I downclocked it, for a while. But eventually it couldn't get into windows for me to set the clocks so I just had to junk it.
