I'm looking for budget laptops that can run modern games at med - low settings. Right now, I'm liking the Dell Inspiron 15 7000, but is there anything for less thats as good?

Open box/refurb is the only way to go. Look for no sales tax and free/minimal shipping too.

Hows the linux compatibility?

Not bad for $350. Running at 60 FPS at probably low settings I can live with that.

Should work out of the box with any modern kernel distro. Wifi chips are the perpetual issue but you have an ethernet port to get those drivers.

I'm having a lot of trouble finding a build of this with 256mb ssd + 1tb hd even though a lot of reviews have this setup. Is there a reason why every store I'm seeing only carries a 128mb ssd?
