I need to build two workstations for deep learning, and I really really like threadripper but I think I'm going to go get jewed by intel's shitty skylake-x because of hackintosh support ;_;

Are you building a workstation or a children's toy?

this.
grow up, op.

I can't use windows for tensorflow, and linux desktop environments give me cancer
Shouldn't you be more concerned about your gpu?
>>62256308
They're going to be 2x1080Ti's anyway

/g/ ladies and gentleman
RedPillMe on the deep learning meme.
Sounds like some complex calculus shit dawg.

tensorflow is available for linux/mac os
you have to built it yourself with gpu support, but it's trivial
Another problem with intel would be that I'd be getting 24 pci-e lanes as opposed to 60. Now I don't need 60, but the GPU's both at x16 is 32 to start with, and throw in a few for the SSD as well...
I don't NEED 12/16 cores I guess, but even then there's threadripper 1900x.
It feels so humiliating to support intel with two expensive purchases after they shit on consumers this hard with skylake-x, but what else can I do

Ryzen has hackintosh support now, as far as I can tell.

I've seen a few people running Ryzen 5 1600 based Hackintoshes with great success.
