>Oracle ranked as most-hated database
I use it at work. It really is fucking dreadful.
They didn't have a way to limit an ordered query until 2013, and even then, the syntax is fucking retarded.
Instead of using "LIMIT n" like literally every other provider, they decided on "FETCH FIRST n ROWS ONLY"
>Developers who work in government and non-profits feel the most underpaid, while those who work in finance feel the most overpaid.
woo lad
There's a bunch of finance companies with regional offices here, and they're always hiring programmers.
I might drop in my resume.

kek'd
what did they mean by this?
MUHVERSITY
>>62254711
WHAT THE FUCK, how where you supposed to get a limited set of results back then? I can't even dare to imagine what sort of fucked up company would dare to sell a product lacking such basic syntax.
>>62253329
>tfw you're a 10/10 programmer but you can't type
>>62254922
>he doesn't know about Oracle
they are, without a doubt, THE worst company in IT. Everything they touch, EVERYTHING, turns to shit inevitably. They are worse than 90's microsoft, they are worse than modern google, they are worse than anyone, no doubt about it. At least other companies still somewhat want to be tech companies, Oracle just exists to latch onto to things and suck the marrow from it. They are pure cancer.
Why do I keep getting connection errors
>>62254922
They had the ROWNUM metacolumn that returned the number of results you've fetched so far, but you can't mix it with ORDER BY.
Like you could doWHERE COLUMN = 'some value' AND ROWNUM <= 100
to fetch 100 rows. But if you wanted to order the values:WHERE COLUMN = 'some value' AND ROWNUM <= 100 ORDER BY ANOTHER_COLUMN
You get inaccurate results since the order is applied AFTER you've fetched 100 columns. It becomes much more apparent if you're doing metrics.
Like if you wanted to find the top 100 values of something.
There were hacky workarounds, like* FROM (query ORDER BY COLUMN) WHERE ROWNUM <= 100
but they were super fucking resource intensive because you had to return the entire table.

4chins blocks your posts if you have full SQL statements, so I had to trim out the selects.

Fucking kek'd hard to this, can't they simply escape everything between code tags?
>two results in negative
>three results in positive
Yeah this is a leading question
>A vast majority 88.7% of developers at least somewhat agreed that diversity is important, up from 73% last year.
Producing an answer giving a misleading result
The rest of the survey looks fine
>>62253737
Pajeets want diversity yet they alienate themselves from everyone else.

I am going to assume you and everyone who replied are underage or have a mental disability. There are many programmers who cannot type. Who knows - maybe one of you will become one.
>>62255508
What sort of interface do they use? does it resemble what Hawking uses?
ummm... guys where the h*ck is Rust???
>>62255598
How is Java even still on the list, Java is dieing. Kotlin is usurping it on the jvm.
>>62255861
Android. That's literally the only fucking reason.
>>62255598
Rust is still an early meme
>>62255861
no it's not. it's still widely used in enterprise. where did you even get that idea from?
>>62255884
wrong
>>62255884
kotlin is the official language of android now though.
>>62255861
Don't let the tech blogs and startups fool you: Kotlin is nowhere near the level of Java, and Java is not dying.
Java is still the language of the enterprise and that's not changing any time soon.
>>62255508
Agreed. I know Stallman at one point had such bad RSI that he had to dictate to an assistant.

I hate SO
Those assholes always get top rank Google
with questions that are closed
It's like a closed question gets a Google boost

>Google zfs vs btrfs
>click first result,
>stack overflow
>This question closed

FUUUUUUUuuuuuuuuuu.....
I hate that site so much.
