Hello /g/
I just installed CrunchBang Linux on my PC
Did I just get meme'd
If I did, what are some good Debian based alternatives
>why Debian?
because sudo apt-get

Yes, you got memed.
>apt-get
It's just apt now.

Try Devuan.
It's basically Debian Jessie but without the NSA/systemd backdoors.

Both work. GNU/Linux is about choice.
Install Gentoo, or arch.

I don't really think NSA really spies on you using systemd but I'll install devuan if I need it
And I'm not American so NSA can't do shit

I don't know were you live but changes are that your government actively shares surveillance data with the U.S. government. Spying on your own civilians is illegal in a lot of countries so they circumvent this by spying on each other civilians and swap data.

Yeah, you got meme'd. CrunchBang has been dead for a number of years, it's a security risk at this point. There's CrunchBang++ that gets regular releases but I'm not really familiar with it desu.
Honestly, I'd just do a fresh debian install with XFCE (or Xubuntu if you want ubuntu packages) and install openbox after if you really want openbox. You should be all set to go then.
You can also do a minimal debian install if you want (no DE) but unless you really need minimalism for whatever reason, there's no point.

>GNU/Linux is about choice
That's why I chose Windows 8.1
God bless GNU/Linux

No one spys on you with systemd, it's just possible attack vector.
More bugs ( and systemd is buggy ) mean more exploits.
Something as big as systemd allows for the possibility of a lot of malicious bugs as it is to big for a compete regular security inventory.
Its too big, too fast and there was very little need for it with the exception of some edge case bugs with asynchronous device connections.
Crunchbang is dead, BunsenLabs is the spiritual successor

Why not Debian itself?

>Both work. GNU/Linux is about choice.
>mfw people still choose to use deprecated ifconfig
I cringe like shit everytime I see someone using it
