pebkac, have you tried using a content blocker? web performance is ~orthogonal to browser pick.

Rendering and running MBs of trash and making unnecessary HTTP requests are slow, shocker. Block scripts, ads, large images and ffs don't give your bandwidth to bloated trash (yt, fb) and you will be able to browse on your calculator

I'm on Linux Mint, and Chrome is a resource hog for me. A single tab uses several times the RAM of FF with 5 tabs open. Don't know why, but it's not an option for me.
