>artificial life sims are never discussed on /g/
Sad!
Is anon working on any artificial life project?

Sims 3

sims 3 is not an artificial life simulation

you're in it

Sims 4
I am able to accept most of this stuff about life being technology, even our minds, but I just understand what causes there to be a perspective in the living thing, a listener, a smeller, a taster, a feeler, why is it there? why can we not just be dead machines walking around pretending to be alive?
>>62213974
*dont understand
>>62213016
that looks interesting. I've already messed with something very similar called Gridworld, which I like because it lets you save a particular organism and implant it where you want in any simulation

>artificial life project
You mean like 4chan?
>>62214018
another one I forgot to mention is galimulator
you can let the civs play out or influence their rise/fall
>>62213974
The problem is that you can understand things, if you could not then you would be said machine.
>>62213974
Unsolved problem in philosophy.
Google qualia.
The fact that some entity such as brain goes through some mental processes to some end, doesn't necessarily mean that the process should subjectively "feel" like anything. It might just be a process. Yet you feel as if you're alive. What process exactly causes that feeling?
>>62214054
how does understanding things make you not a machine?
>>62213016
Yes, thank you for asking! Working on it for more tha a year now. Lot of trial and error, a complete rewrite, custom physics engine.

I'm talking about that machine.
As an actual answer, keep in mind we are evolved beings not created ones (or not created as we are now at least). Our minds and bodies reflect this, we can do the amazing calculations to throw a ball over or to track something with our eyes without thinking about it but can't do that as easily if numbers get involved. Its only sensible that we don't think of ourselves as mere objects from an evolutionairy standpoint.

I suck at writing things, please just get a few books on the subject <3.
I am
started working on it a week ago.
trying to let them train a braun using ANNs and natural selections.
Given my objective is primarily death or not they don't really manage to optimize though...

very sad diagnostics after 3000 generations
probably still has a lot of bugs

I was working on some interactional AI concept but I couldn't make it fast enough so I gave up.
