Actually I'm using a GTX 970 right now and I've been wanting to upgrade. Then again I don't game anymore and it's basically useless now. It does display youtube videos pretty nicely though.

Games? You're better off buying a decent desktop or use a console, and most games worth playing doesn't require strong GPU.
Rendering? Then you don't need a laptop.
Playback? Intel HD 3000 with properly configured mpv can play up to 8K.
