Terry was right - Windows 7 users on suicide watch.

>Windows machines are targeted by the CIA under ‘Angelfire,’ according to the latest release from WikiLeaks’ ‘Vault7’ series. The documents detail an implant that can allow Windows machines to create undetectable libraries.
>‘Solartime’ modifies the partition boot sector of Windows XP or Windows 7 machines when installed, allowing the ‘Wolfcreek’ implant to load and execute. ‘Wolfcreek’ can then load and execute other ‘Angelfire’ implants.

If the CIA couldn't do any of this to begin with then I really worry about my nation's security. But since this is the internet I have to say DA GUBBERMENT BAD
>>
>>62187541

I believe it fully.

I have been monitoring my windows 7 installation at my office.

-turn off all extraneous processes
-turn off all programs
-leave overnight
-firewall logging
-check logs in the morning

The machine still tries to connect via 443 out to several addresses at seemingly random times. Some of the addresses are explainable as Microsoft owned domains, or shared IP's where Microsoft hosts their services. Some are not. I have blocked all of these addresses when I see a connection attempt.

I did make the effort to turn off all telemetry I am able to, but I just don't trust this machine as it still "phones home" to Microsoft.

Who knows what else it does..
>>
>>62187894
Linux does nothing to actually prevent the intel/amd hardware botnet and majority of usable distros have quite a lot of botnet incorporated to make that shit usable.

No operating system is safe because the OLD REPORTING of vulnerabilities is no longer effective, it's turned into a market place for anyone and everyone to exploit and botnet every computer right out of the box and even every component.

It's no longer profitable or possible to keep up and have actual security and stability/safety/etc patches and updates. From the very bios, firmware and even hardware level, every machine currently produced has multiple exploits that make even encryption non-viable. The only reason encryption is still treated as such in the courts is so that false evidence planting, long term stakeouts, false-flag and other sort of operations can continue.

Monopolies are back in vogue, as long as they pay both directly and indirectly their respective governments and organizations.

Just try to google and get an actual firewall software/hardware solution that prevents and blocks EVERY exploit path and behavior. I can guarantee that it'll be hidden, EXPENSIVE, and exclusively government ABC only, if its visible on your computer and network even.

Also good luck with your firewall results, those are probable the only ones you actually have reporting to your logs, the ones that are still leaking data won't show, guaranteed 100%

>vs all the proprietary security vulnerabilities
>vs proven backdoors in proprietary instances such as intel AMT, router firmware, and literally all modern phones via the baseband
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baseband_processor
>A baseband processor typically uses its own RAM and firmware
>Since the software which runs on baseband processors is usually proprietary, it is impossible to perform an independent code audit. By reverse engineering some of the baseband chips, researchers have found security vulnerabilities that could be used to access and modify data on the phone remotely
https://www.fsf.org/blogs/community/replicant-developers-find-and-close-samsung-galaxy-backdoor
>Today's phones come with two separate processors: one is a general-purpose applications processor that runs the main operating system, e.g. Android; the other, known as the modem, baseband, or radio, is in charge of communications with the mobile telephony network. This processor always runs a proprietary operating system, and these systems are known to have backdoors that make it possible to remotely convert the modem into a remote spying device. The spying can involve activating the device's microphone, but it could also use the precise GPS location of the device and access the camera, as well as the user data stored on the phone. Moreover, modems are connected most of the time to the operator's network, making the backdoors nearly always accessible
>we discovered that the proprietary program running on the applications processor in charge of handling the communication protocol with the modem actually implements a backdoor that lets the modem perform remote file I/O operations on the file system
The cancer of proprietary plagues every consumer device

the hardware for many keyboards and input devices can be circumvented and directly tapped for any and all input, and the infamous direct bit write/read collection via the led's used in both disc drives and hard/sd drives is still there. The only thing crypt does is make it harder for joe-back-birth to get it. ABC's, if they have receipts and/or access to your system will be able to choose a non-system vulnerability to collect info. But yeah, several thousand years or more to decrypt the evidence and to have actual physical usage against you is still nice. Just that if your keyboard is show to be used to type bomb, terrorism, or other words you will have to explain that in court.

It does, it relies on Xen for this. I have not experienced any performance issues with it, but as you create more domains the resource usage will go up accordingly. Give it a try.

Who cares, all modern CPUs are backdoored so even if you use loonix (((they))) can spy on you.

Have they? I asked you to show me an example of this but you can't. All you can do is spout low-IQ FUD, Pajeet.

The ME isn't in the CPU, it's on the northbridge chipset (or PCH in newer chipsets), this is why libreboot can be used to remove the ME along with the BIOS of the systems it supports.

Not an argument.

Wait it's in a different chip, or is it in the "cpu" which these days is a SOC?

it's a technicality which doesn't matter to most people

>‘Solartime’ modifies the partition boot sector of Windows XP or Windows 7 machines when installed, allowing the ‘Wolfcreek’ implant to load and execute. ‘Wolfcreek’ can then load and execute other ‘Angelfire’ implants

>Boot sector

Ok, I am a bit scared now. I left my Windows 7 PC on while it was downloading torrents and went to sleep with a sleep timer. Next day, I woke, Turned on my pc and it doesn't boot anymore, It goes into a blank screen after the BIOS splash. Am I fucked? I did recover majority of the files through a liveboot and didn't bother re installing windows again until now, Posting this from my laptop, but this is kind of worrying me.

Yes yes, literally a common boot sector malware.
Those exist since 1970, but on the old days they delivered rude messages and played cute PC Speaker sounds while erasing your harddrive.

I thought the core 2 duo was the last architecture that kept it on an external, easily reflashable chip.

The ME chip is also used for actual work like managing power modes etc.. so they have to keep it's code on the flashrom, so the PCB manufacturers can configure it.
It will be quite a useful beast after we gut the fuck out of it and build our own programs.
>>
>>62210057
No, it's on the fucking PCH. Look it up ffs. Although it certainly is intertwined with the CPU. After C2D, (ie i3 i5 i7) the computer will literally shut off if the ME has been disabled.
